प्रसादयामास मृदंगमर्दलं सभेरिकाडिण्डिमझर्झरानकम् ॥ रणस्थले संजहृषू रणप्रिया असुप्रियाः संगरतः पराययुः ॥ ६ ॥
Mṛdaṅgas, Mardalas, Bherikās, Diṇḍimas, Jharjharas and Ānakas were sounded. The warmongers rejoiced in the battle-ground. Those who wore afraid fled away for their life.
english translation
prasAdayAmAsa mRdaMgamardalaM sabherikADiNDimajharjharAnakam ॥ raNasthale saMjahRSU raNapriyA asupriyAH saMgarataH parAyayuH ॥ 6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभटाश्च ते युद्धपटावृतास्तदा रणस्थलीं मापुरपापविग्रहाः ॥ गृहीतशस्त्रास्त्रचया जिगीषया परस्परं विग्रहयन्त उल्बणम्॥ ७॥
Glad in their martial dress the soldiers came in their healthy spirits to the battleground. Holding various weapons and missiles they teased one another each eager for his victory.

bhaTAzca te yuddhapaTAvRtAstadA raNasthalIM mApurapApavigrahAH ॥ gRhItazastrAstracayA jigISayA parasparaM vigrahayanta ulbaNam॥ 7॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगजाधिरूढास्तुरगाधिरोहिणो रथाधिरूढाश्च तथापरेऽसुराः ॥ अलक्षयन्तः स्वपराञ्जनान्मुदाऽसुरेशसंगे समरेऽभिरेभिरे ॥ ८ ॥
Soldiers on elephants, looked at the enemy with indifference. In the company of the lord of Asuras they rejoiced in the battle.

gajAdhirUDhAsturagAdhirohiNo rathAdhirUDhAzca tathApare'surAH ॥ alakSayantaH svaparAJjanAnmudA'surezasaMge samare'bhirebhire ॥ 8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptध्वनिः शतघ्नी जनितो मुहुर्मुहुर्बभूव तेन त्रिदशाः समेजिताः ॥ महान्धकारः समपद्यताम्बरे विलोक्यते नो रथमण्डलं रवेः ॥ ९॥
The sound arising from the guns rose up repeatedly making the gods tremble. A great darkness enveloped the sky. Even the chariot of the sun was not visible.

dhvaniH zataghnI janito muhurmuhurbabhUva tena tridazAH samejitAH ॥ mahAndhakAraH samapadyatAmbare vilokyate no rathamaNDalaM raveH ॥ 9॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपदातयो निर्व वजुर्हि कोटिशः प्रभूतमाना विजयाभिलाषिणः ॥ रथाश्वगा वारणगा अथापरेऽसुरा निरीयुः कति कोटिशो मुदा ॥ १० ॥
Foot-soldiers set out in excessive numbers desirous of victory. Soldiers in chariots, on horsebacks, elephants and others set out joyously in crores and crores.

padAtayo nirva vajurhi koTizaH prabhUtamAnA vijayAbhilASiNaH ॥ rathAzvagA vAraNagA athApare'surA nirIyuH kati koTizo mudA ॥ 10 ॥
