ततः प्रभृति सा देवी धूमावत्युच्यते भुवि॥ आराधिता स्वभक्तानां शत्रुवर्गनिकर्तिनी ॥ ५१॥
Since then, that goddess is called Dhūmāvatī in the world. When propitiated she destroys hosts of enemies of her devotees.

धूम्राक्षे निहते देव्या वाहनेनातिकोपिना ॥ चर्वितास्तद्गणास्सर्वेऽपलायन्तावशेषिताः ॥ ५२॥
After Dhūnirākṣa was killed, his army was crunched and munched by the infuriated lion. Those who were spared fled away.

इत्थं देव्या हतं दैत्यं श्रुत्वा शुंभः प्रतापवान् ॥ चकार बहुलं कोपं सन्दष्टोष्ठपुटद्वयः ॥ ५३ ॥
On hearing that the Daitya was killed by the goddess, the valorous Śumbha was angry and bit his lips.

चण्डं मुंडं रक्तबीजं प्रैषयत्क्रमतोऽ सुरान् ॥ तेपि चाज्ञापिता दैत्या ययुर्यत्राम्बिका स्थिता ॥ ५४॥
He sent the Asuras—Caṇḍa, Muṇḍa and Raktabīja in order. The Daityas, thus ordered, went to the spot where Ambikā was stationed.

सिंहारूढा भगवतीमणिमादिभिराश्रिताम्॥ भासयंती दिशो भासा दृष्ट्वोचुर्द्दानवर्षभाः ॥ ५५ ॥
On seeing the goddess seated on a lion, possessed of Aṇimā and other Siddhis and dazzling the quarters with her brilliance, the leading Dānavas said.
