मातर्यदा भवेत्कार्यं तव किंचिद्धृदीप्सितम्॥ संस्मृतश्चागमिष्यामि त्वदिच्छापूर्तिहेतवे ॥ ४१॥
O mother, whenever you have some work, whenever you desire in your mind, please remember me. Immediately I shall come to you to fulfil your desire.”
english translation
mAtaryadA bhavetkAryaM tava kiMciddhRdIpsitam॥ saMsmRtazcAgamiSyAmi tvadicchApUrtihetave ॥ 41॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइत्युक्त्वा मातृचरणावभिवाद्य तपोनिधिः ॥ जगाम च तपः कर्त्तुं तीर्थं पापविशोधनम् ॥ ४२ ॥
After saying this and worshipping his mother’s feet the sage, a storehouse of penance, went away to perform penance to holy centres quelling sins.
english translation
ityuktvA mAtRcaraNAvabhivAdya taponidhiH ॥ jagAma ca tapaH karttuM tIrthaM pApavizodhanam ॥ 42 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसापि पित्रन्तिकं याता पुत्रस्नेहाकुला सती ॥ स्मरन्ती चरितं सूनोर्वर्णयन्ती स्वभाग्यकम् ॥ ४३ ॥
She too returned to her father. The chaste lady was overwhelmed by her love for her son. She recollected his activities and described the event as her great fortune.

sApi pitrantikaM yAtA putrasnehAkulA satI ॥ smarantI caritaM sUnorvarNayantI svabhAgyakam ॥ 43 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptद्वीपे जातो यतो बालस्तेन द्वैपायनोऽभवत् ॥ वेदशाखाविभजनाद्वेदव्यासः प्रकीर्तितः ॥ ४४ ॥
As the boy was born in an island he was known as Dvaipayana. Since he classified the various branches of the Vedas he is glorified as Vedavyāsa.

dvIpe jAto yato bAlastena dvaipAyano'bhavat ॥ vedazAkhAvibhajanAdvedavyAsaH prakIrtitaH ॥ 44 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतीर्थराजं प्रथमतो धर्मकामार्थ मोक्षदम् ॥ नैमिषं च कुरुक्षेत्रं गङ्गाद्वारमवन्तिकाम् ॥ ४५ ॥
