नमस्तस्मै महेशाय भक्तध्येयाय शम्भवे ॥ पुराणपुरुषायाद्धा शंकराय परात्मने ॥ १०६ ॥
Obeisance to lord Śiva, who deserves the worship of devotees, Obeisance to the Ancient Being; to Śiva the great Ātman,”
english translation
इति स्तुत्वा क्षितौ यावद्दण्डवन्निपपात सः॥ तावत्स बालो हृष्टात्मा वेदव्यासमभाषत॥ १०७॥
After eulogising thus when the sage Vyāsa prostrated on the ground the delighted boy spoke to him.
english translation
वरं वृणीष्व भो योगिन्यस्ते मनसि वर्तते ॥ नादेयं विद्यते किंचिद्भक्ताधीनो यतोऽस्म्यहम्॥ १०८॥
O Yogin, choose your boon, whatever be in your mind. There is nothing which cannot be granted to you since I am subservient to my devotees.
english translation
तत उत्थाय हृष्टात्मा मुनिर्व्यासो महातपाः ॥ प्रत्यब्रवीत्किमज्ञातं सर्वज्ञस्य तव प्रभो ॥ १०९ ॥
Then the delighted sage Vyāsa of great penance stood up and replied—“O lord what is hidden from you the omniscient?”

सर्वान्तरात्मा भगवाञ्छर्वः सर्वप्रदो भवान् ॥ याञ्चां प्रतिनियुङ्क्ते मां किमीशो दैन्यकारिणीम् ॥ ११० ॥
You are the immanent Soul and bestower of everything. Why does the lord force me for begging which is the cause of misery?
