पितरं सोऽब्रवीन्मुक्तः क्व गच्छामीति वै तदा ॥ वस श्वपाकनिकटे राजा प्राहेति तं तदा ॥ ५१ ॥
When cast-off he asked his father where to go. The king asked him to stay with the outcastes.

स हि सत्यव्रतस्तेन श्वपाकवसथांतिके ॥ पित्रा त्यक्तोऽवसद्वीरो धर्मपालेन भूभुजा ॥ ५२ ॥
Cast off by his father the righteous king and protector, the heroic Satyavrata lived with the outcastes.

ततस्त्रय्यारुणी राजा विरक्तः पुत्रकर्मणा ॥ स शंकरतपः कर्त्तुं सर्वं त्यक्त्वा वनं ययौ ॥ ५३॥
Becoming detached due to the activities of his son, the king Trayyāruṇi forsook everything and went to the forest in order to perform penance to propitiate Śiva.

ततस्तस्य स्व विषये नावर्षत्पाकशासनः ॥ समा द्वादश विप्रर्षे तेनाधर्मेण वै तदा ॥ ५४॥
O brahmin sage, due to that sinful misdeed Indra did not rain in his kingdom for twelve years.

दारां तस्य तु विषये विश्वामित्रो महातपाः ॥ संत्यज्य सागरानूपे चचार विपुलं तपः ॥ ५५॥
Viśvāmitra of great penance abandoned his wife in that land and performed extensive penance in the marshy foreshore of the ocean.
