देवा मनुष्या गन्धर्वाः पितरो नागराक्षसाः ॥ स्थावराणि च भूतानि संश्रयंति जलाशयम् ॥ ११ ॥
The gods, human beings, Gandharvas, Pitṛs, serpents, Rākṣasas and the immobile beings depend upon water bases.
english translation
devA manuSyA gandharvAH pitaro nAgarAkSasAH ॥ sthAvarANi ca bhUtAni saMzrayaMti jalAzayam ॥ 11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रावृडृतौ तडागे तु सलिलं यस्य तिष्ठति ॥ अग्निहोत्रफलं तस्य भवतीत्याह चात्मभूः ॥ १२ ॥
Brahmā says that the benefit of the sacred rite Agnihotra is derived by a man in the lake dug by whom there is plenty of water in the rainy season.
english translation
prAvRDRtau taDAge tu salilaM yasya tiSThati ॥ agnihotraphalaM tasya bhavatItyAha cAtmabhUH ॥ 12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशरत्काले तु सलिलं तडागे यस्य तिष्ठति ॥ गोसहस्रफलं तस्य भवेन्नैवात्र संशयः ॥ १३ ॥
There is no doubt at all in this that the benefit of gifting away a thousand cows is derived by a man, in the lake dug by whom there is plenty of water in the Autumn.
english translation
zaratkAle tu salilaM taDAge yasya tiSThati ॥ gosahasraphalaM tasya bhavennaivAtra saMzayaH ॥ 13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहेमन्ते शिशिरे चैव सलिलं यस्य तिष्ठति ॥ स वै बहुसुवर्णस्य यज्ञस्य लभते फलम् ॥ १४ ॥
If there is plenty of water in the lake dug during the seasons of early winter and late winter, he derives the benefit of that sacrifice in which plenty of gold is given as a sacrificial gift.
english translation
hemante zizire caiva salilaM yasya tiSThati ॥ sa vai bahusuvarNasya yajJasya labhate phalam ॥ 14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवसंते च तथा ग्रीष्मे सलिलं यस्य तिष्ठति ॥ अतिरात्राश्वमेधानां फलमाहुर्मनीषिणः ॥ १५ ॥
If there is plenty of water in the lake dug during the seasons of Spring and Summer, the wise say that he derives the benefit of the holy rites of Atirātra and Aśvamedha sacrifices.

vasaMte ca tathA grISme salilaM yasya tiSThati ॥ atirAtrAzvamedhAnAM phalamAhurmanISiNaH ॥ 15 ॥
