विश्राम्यमाणा गच्छंति गुरुशुश्रूषका नराः ॥ आतोद्यविप्रदातारस्सुखं यांति स्वके गृहे ॥ ११ ॥
Those who habitually serve their preceptors go without difficulty. They get ample rest on the way. Those who gift musical instruments to brahmins go happily feeling at home on the way.
english translation
सर्वकामसमृद्धेन यथा गच्छंति गोप्रदाः ॥ अत्र दत्तान्नपानानि 'तान्याप्नोति नरः पथि ॥ १२ ॥
Givers of cows go along the path flourishing with all their desires. They get those food-stuffs and drinks which they give away here, on that path also.
english translation
पादशौचप्रदानेन सजलेन पथा व्रजेत् ॥ पादाभ्यंगं च यः कुर्यादश्वपृष्ठेन गच्छति ॥ १३ ॥
By giving water for washing the feet one goes along the path full of water. He who gifts oils for massaging the feet goes on horseback along that way.
english translation
पादशौचं तथाभ्यंगं दीपमन्नं प्रतिश्रयम् ॥ यो ददाति सदा व्यास नोपसर्पति तं यमः ॥ १४ ॥
O Vyāsa, Yama never comes near the man who always makes gifts of water for washing the feet, oil for massaging, lamps, foodstuffs and dwellings.
english translation
हेमरत्नप्रदानेन याति दुर्गाणि निस्तरन् ॥ रौप्यानडुत्स्रग्दानेन यमलोकं सुखेन सः ॥ १५ ॥
By making gifts of gold and gems he crosses all impassable hurdles. By gifting silver and oxen he goes to Yamaloka happily.
