निश्शेषतः कशाभिस्तु पीड्यते क्रमशः पुनः ।। बुभुक्षयातिकष्टं हि तथायाति पिपासया ।। ५१ ।।

It is gradually tormented again and again by the coughs without remaining It is very difficult to be hungry and thirsty.

nizzeSataH kazAbhistu pIDyate kramazaH punaH || bubhukSayAtikaSTaM hi tathAyAti pipAsayA || 51 ||

एवमाद्या महाघोरा यातनाः पापकर्मणाम् ।। अंते यत्प्रतिपन्नं हि तत्संक्षेपेण संशृणु ।। ५२ ।।

यः करोति महापापं धर्म्मं चरति वै लघु ।। धर्म्मं गुरुतरं वापि तथावस्थे तयोः शृणु ।। ५३।।

sanskrit

There may be a person who has done more sin than good or a person who has done more good than evil. Now listen to the result of their actions.

english translation

yaH karoti mahApApaM dharmmaM carati vai laghu || dharmmaM gurutaraM vApi tathAvasthe tayoH zRNu || 53||

सुकृतस्य फलं नोक्तं गुरुपा पप्रभावतः ।। न मिनोति सुखं तत्र भोगैर्बहुभिरन्वितः ।। ५४ ।।

sanskrit

The fruit of good actions is immaterial because it is the sin that is prominent. His pleasure is insignificant since he has to undergo manifold suffering due to his bad deeds.

sukRtasya phalaM noktaM gurupA paprabhAvataH || na minoti sukhaM tatra bhogairbahubhiranvitaH || 54 ||

तथोद्विग्नोतिसंतप्तो न भक्ष्यैर्मन्यते सुखम् ।। अभावादग्रतोऽन्यस्य प्रतिकल्पं दिनेदिने ।। ५५।।

He is put to misery and distress. As sumptuous food is not pleasing to a person if that is not repeated every day so his small joys are of no avail in the face of various sufferings he has to undergo.
