तं तदा मृगरूपेण धावंतं गगनं प्रति।। वीरभद्रस्समादाय विशिरस्कमथाकरोत्।।४६।।

Vīrabhadra seized it as it, was fleeing up the sky in the form of a deer and beheaded it.

taM tadA mRgarUpeNa dhAvaMtaM gaganaM prati|| vIrabhadrassamAdAya viziraskamathAkarot||46||

ततः प्रजापतिं धर्मं कश्यपं च प्रगृह्य सः ।। अरिष्टनेमिनं वीरो बहुपत्रमुनीश्वरम् ।।४७।।

Then that heroic one (Vīrabhadra) seized Prajāpati Dharma, Kaśyapa, Ariṣṭanemi, and Bahupatra, the great sages.

tataH prajApatiM dharmaM kazyapaM ca pragRhya saH || ariSTaneminaM vIro bahupatramunIzvaram ||47||

मुनिमांगिरसं चैव कृशाश्वं च महागणः ।। जघान मूर्ध्नि पादेन दत्तं च मुनिपुंगवम् ।। ४८ ।।

The great attendant (of Shiva), struck down the sages Āṅgirasa and Kṛśāśva — he kicked them on the head, including the eminent sage Datta (also known as Dattatreya).

munimAMgirasaM caiva kRzAzvaM ca mahAgaNaH || jaghAna mUrdhni pAdena dattaM ca munipuMgavam || 48 ||

सरस्वत्याश्च नासाग्रं देवमास्तु तथैव च ।। चिच्छेद करजाग्रेण वीर भद्रः प्रतापवान् ।। ४९ ।।

With the tip of his fingers he cut off the tip of the nose of Sarasvatī and of Aditi the mother of devas. Vīrabhadra showed his exploits thus.

sarasvatyAzca nAsAgraM devamAstu tathaiva ca || ciccheda karajAgreNa vIra bhadraH pratApavAn || 49 ||

ततोन्यानपि देवादीन् विदार्य पृथिवीतले ।। पातयामास सोयं वै क्रोधाक्रांतातिलोचनः ।। 2.2.37.५० ।।

Similarly the infuriated Vīrabhadra with eyes blazing, cut off the other devas too and threw them on the ground.
