।। नारद उवाच ।। श्रुत्वा व्योमगिरं दक्षः किमकार्षीत्तदाऽबुधः ।। अन्ये च कृतवंतः किं ततश्च किमभूद्वद ।। १ ।।

sanskrit

Nārada said: On hearing the ethereal voice what did the unwise Dakṣa do? What did the others do? What happened thereafter? Please narrate.

|| nArada uvAca || zrutvA vyomagiraM dakSaH kimakArSIttadA'budhaH || anye ca kRtavaMtaH kiM tatazca kimabhUdvada || 1 ||

पराजिताः शिवगणा भृगुमंत्रबलेन वै ।। किमकार्षुः कुत्र गतास्तत्त्वं वद महामते ।। २ ।।

O intelligent one, please tell me what those attendants of Śiva who were defeated by the power of Bhṛgu’s mantras did and where they went.

english translation

parAjitAH zivagaNA bhRgumaMtrabalena vai || kimakArSuH kutra gatAstattvaM vada mahAmate || 2 ||

।। ब्रह्मोवाच ।। श्रुत्वा व्योमगिरं सर्वे विस्मिताश्च सुरादयः ।। नावोचत्किंचिदपि ते तिष्ठन्तस्तु विमोहिताः ।।३।।

sanskrit

Brahmā said: On hearing the voice of the Sky, the devas and others were stunned with surprise. They did not say anything. They stood perplexed and dazed.

english translation

|| brahmovAca || zrutvA vyomagiraM sarve vismitAzca surAdayaH || nAvocatkiMcidapi te tiSThantastu vimohitAH ||3||

पलायमाना ये वीरा भृगुमंत्रबलेन ते ।। अवशिष्टा श्शिवगणाश्शिवं शरणमाययुः ।।४।।

sanskrit

The remaining attendants of Śiva who were defeated and routed by the power of Bhṛgu’s mantras fled and sought refuge in Śiva.

english translation

palAyamAnA ye vIrA bhRgumaMtrabalena te || avaziSTA zzivagaNAzzivaM zaraNamAyayuH ||4||

सर्वं निवेदयामासू रुद्रायामिततेजसे ।। चरित्रं च तथाभूतं सुप्रणम्यादराच्च ते ।। ५ ।।

sanskrit

Bowing with great respect to Śiva of immeasurable splendour they narrated everything that transpired there.

english translation

sarvaM nivedayAmAsU rudrAyAmitatejase || caritraM ca tathAbhUtaM supraNamyAdarAcca te || 5 ||
