किंवा शिवाख्यमशिवं त्वदन्ये न विदुर्बुधाः ॥ ब्रह्मादयस्तं मुनयस्सनकाद्यास्तथापरे ॥ ५१ ॥
Have the scholarly persons, Brahmā and others, Śanaka and sages, except you, considered Śiva unholy?
english translation
kiMvA zivAkhyamazivaM tvadanye na vidurbudhAH ॥ brahmAdayastaM munayassanakAdyAstathApare ॥ 51 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअवकीर्य जटाभूतैश्श्मशाने स कपालधृक् ॥ तन्माल्यभस्म वा ज्ञात्वा प्रीत्यावसदुदारधीः ॥ ५२ ॥
Wearing matted hair and a skull in the cremation ground, adorned with garlands of bones and ash, he sits in joy, his mind pure and noble.
english translation
avakIrya jaTAbhUtaizzmazAne sa kapAladhRk ॥ tanmAlyabhasma vA jJAtvA prItyAvasadudAradhIH ॥ 52 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptये मूर्द्धभिर्दधति तच्चरणोत्सृष्टमाराद् ॥ निर्माल्यं मुनयो देवास्स शिवः परमेश्वरः ॥५३॥
Those who wear this garland of bones on their heads, having received it from the feet of the Lord, are revered by sages and gods alike.
english translation
ye mUrddhabhirdadhati taccaraNotsRSTamArAd ॥ nirmAlyaM munayo devAssa zivaH paramezvaraH ॥53॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रवृत्तं च निवृत्तं च द्विविधं कर्मचोदि तम् ॥ वेदे विविच्य वृत्तं च तद्विचार्यं मनीषिभिः ॥५४॥
Both actions—those that lead to worldly involvement and those that lead to renunciation—are initiated by the will of the Supreme. The wise discern and evaluate these actions through the Vedas.

pravRttaM ca nivRttaM ca dvividhaM karmacodi tam ॥ vede vivicya vRttaM ca tadvicAryaM manISibhiH ॥54॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविरोधियौगपद्यैककर्तृके च तथा द्वयम् ॥ परब्रह्मणि शंभो तु कर्मर्च्छंति न किंचन ॥ ५५ ॥
Whether actions are performed with attachment or detachment, they are ultimately directed by Lord Shiva, the Supreme Being. Therefore, no action is without purpose.
