ततो देवगणास्सर्वे मुनयश्चाखिलास्तथा ॥ तुष्टुवुश्शंकरं तत्र प्रज्वलंतं भयातुराः ॥ ३६ ॥
Then all the devas and the sages, extremely terrified, began to eulogise Him who was blazing there.
english translation
देवा ऊचुः ॥ देव देव महादेव शरणागतवत्सल ॥ ब्रह्माणं रक्ष रक्षेश कृपां कुरु महेश्वर ॥ ३७ ॥
Devas said: O lord, O great lord, favourably disposed to those who seek refuge, O Śiva, save me. O lord Śiva, be pleased.
english translation
जगत्पिता महेश त्वं जगन्माता सती मता ॥ हरिब्रह्मादयस्सर्वे तव दासास्सुरप्रभो ॥३८॥ ॥
O great lord, you are the father of the universe. Satī is the mother of the universe. O lord of Devas, Viṣṇu, Brahmā and others are all your slaves.
english translation
अद्भुताकृतिलीलस्त्वं तव मायाद्भुता प्रभो ॥ तया विमोहितं सर्वं विना त्वद्भक्तिमीश्वर ॥ ३९ ॥
Mysterious is your form, O lord, and mysterious are your divine sports. Your Māyā is enigmatic and complex. Everything and everyone except your devotee is deluded by it, O Lord.
english translation
ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ इत्थं बहुतरं दीना निर्जरा मुनयश्च ते ॥ तुष्टुवुर्देवदेवेशं क्रोधाविष्टं महेश्वरम् ॥ 2-2-19-४० ॥
Brahmā said: Thus in many ways, the timid and frightened devas and the sages eulogised the lord of devas who was furious.
