सिंहस्थां कालिकां कृष्णां चारुवक्त्रां चतुर्भुजाम् ।। वरदाभयनीलाब्जखड्गहस्तां मनोहराम् ।। ११ ।।

sanskrit

[They saw] Kālīkā (Kali), dark in complexion, seated on a lion, with a beautiful face and four arms, holding a boon-giving gesture, a gesture of protection, a blue lotus, and a sword — enchanting in appearance.

english translation

siMhasthAM kAlikAM kRSNAM cAruvaktrAM caturbhujAm || varadAbhayanIlAbjakhaDgahastAM manoharAm || 11 ||

hk transliteration

आरक्तनयनां चारुमुक्तकेशीं जगत्प्रसूम् । तुष्टाव वाग्भिश्चित्राभिः सुप्रणम्याथ सुप्रभाम् ।। १२ ।।

sanskrit

With various sorts of prayer he eulogised and bowed to the Goddess mother of the universe, Kālikā seated on a lion, dark-complexioned, with four arms and beautiful face, the bestower of the boon, the abode of safety, holding a blue lotus and the sword in her hands, comely with reddish eyes and with beautiful dishevelled hair.

english translation

AraktanayanAM cArumuktakezIM jagatprasUm | tuSTAva vAgbhizcitrAbhiH supraNamyAtha suprabhAm || 12 ||

hk transliteration

दक्ष उवाच ।। जगदेव महामाये जगदीशे महेश्वरि ।। कृपां कृत्वा नमस्तेस्तु दर्शितं स्ववपुर्मम।।१३।।

sanskrit

Dakṣa said: Obeisance to Thee, O great Goddess, mother of the universe, wielding the great illusion, the ruler of the universe. It is with great favour that Thou showed Thy own body to me.

english translation

dakSa uvAca || jagadeva mahAmAye jagadIze mahezvari || kRpAM kRtvA namastestu darzitaM svavapurmama||13||

hk transliteration

प्रसीद भगवत्याद्ये प्रसीद शिवरूपिणम् ।। प्रसीद भक्तवरदे जगन्माये नमोस्तु ते ।।१४।।

sanskrit

Be pleased, O primordial Goddess, be pleased, O Goddess in the form of Śiva; be pleased, O bestower of boons to the devotees; obeisance be to Thee, O wielder of illusion over the universe.

english translation

prasIda bhagavatyAdye prasIda zivarUpiNam || prasIda bhaktavarade jaganmAye namostu te ||14||

hk transliteration

ब्रह्मोवाच ।। इति स्तुता महेशानी दक्षेण प्रयतात्मना ।। उवाच दक्षं ज्ञात्वापि स्वयं तस्येप्सितं मुने ।। १५ ।।

sanskrit

Brahmā said: O sage, thus eulogised by Dakṣa of purified soul, the Goddess spoke to Dakṣa, although she knew what his desire was.

english translation

brahmovAca || iti stutA mahezAnI dakSeNa prayatAtmanA || uvAca dakSaM jJAtvApi svayaM tasyepsitaM mune || 15 ||
