दक्षस्तपति देवेशि क्षीरोदोत्तरतीरगः॥ त्वामुद्दिश्य समाधाय मनस्त्वयि दृढव्रतः ॥३१॥
O Goddess of devas, Dakṣa is performing a penance on the north of the milky ocean* with his mind controlled and directed towards you. He is steady in performing the rite.
english translation
dakSastapati devezi kSIrodottaratIragaH॥ tvAmuddizya samAdhAya manastvayi dRDhavrataH ॥31॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्रह्मोवाच॥ इत्याकर्ण्य वचस्सा चिंतामाप शिवा तदा॥ उवाच च स्वमनसि विस्मिता जगदम्बिका॥३२॥
Brahmā said: On hearing my words Śivā began to reflect then. The mother of the universe, surprised in her mind, spoke these words.
english translation
brahmovAca॥ ityAkarNya vacassA ciMtAmApa zivA tadA॥ uvAca ca svamanasi vismitA jagadambikA॥32॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदेव्युवाच ॥ अहो सुमहदाश्चर्यं वेदवक्तापि विश्वकृत् ॥ महाज्ञानपरो भूत्वा विधाता किं वदत्ययम् ॥३३॥
The Devī said: O this is an extremely wonderful thing. He is the reciter of the Vedas and the creator of the universe. He is endowed with great knowledge. Yet what is this that He says?
english translation
devyuvAca ॥ aho sumahadAzcaryaM vedavaktApi vizvakRt ॥ mahAjJAnaparo bhUtvA vidhAtA kiM vadatyayam ॥33॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविधेश्चेतसि संजातो महामोहोऽसुखावहः ॥ यद्वरं निर्विकारं तं संमोहयितुमिच्छति ॥३४॥
A great delusion has beset His mind that makes him unhappy. That is why he desires to cause the fascination of Śiva who is free from mental aberration.
english translation
vidhezcetasi saMjAto mahAmoho'sukhAvahaH ॥ yadvaraM nirvikAraM taM saMmohayitumicchati ॥34॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहरमोहवरं मत्तस्समिच्छति विधिस्त्वयम् ॥ को लाभोस्यात्र स विभुर्निर्मोहो निर्विकल्पकः ॥३५॥
This Brahmā desires the favour of power from me to enchant Śiva. What does he gain thereby? The great lord is free from delusion and mental aberrations.
english translation
haramohavaraM mattassamicchati vidhistvayam ॥ ko lAbhosyAtra sa vibhurnirmoho nirvikalpakaH ॥35॥
