इत्याकर्ण्य वचः कामः प्रोवाच वचनं पुनः।। देवर्षे गौरवं मत्वा प्रणम्य विनयेन माम् ।।५१।।

sanskrit

O celestial sage, on hearing these words, Kāma humbly paid homage to me and considering the gravity of the matter spoke to me again.

english translation

ityAkarNya vacaH kAmaH provAca vacanaM punaH|| devarSe gauravaM matvA praNamya vinayena mAm ||51||

काम उवाच ।। मया सम्यक् कृतं कर्म मोहने तस्य यत्नतः ।। तन्मोहो नाभवत्तात न भविष्यति नाधुना ।। ५२ ।।

sanskrit

Kāma said: I have already made sufficient efforts in this matter of enchanting Him. The delusion could not be effected. Nor it is going to take place now. Nor will it ever take place.

english translation

kAma uvAca || mayA samyak kRtaM karma mohane tasya yatnataH || tanmoho nAbhavattAta na bhaviSyati nAdhunA || 52 ||

तव वाग्गौरवं मत्वा दृष्ट्वा मारगणानपि ।। गमिष्यामि पुनस्तत्र सदारोहं त्वदाज्ञया ।। ५३ ।।

Acting on your directive after giving it the due honour and after visiting my troops I shall go again with all pomp and show.

english translation

tava vAggauravaM matvA dRSTvA mAragaNAnapi || gamiSyAmi punastatra sadArohaM tvadAjJayA || 53 ||

मनो निश्चितमेतद्धि तन्मोहो न भविष्यति ।। भस्म कुर्यान्न मे देहमिति शंकास्ति मे विधे ।। ५४ ।।

But I am certain that He will not be deluded. O Brahmā I have fears that He may reduce me to ashes.

english translation

mano nizcitametaddhi tanmoho na bhaviSyati || bhasma kuryAnna me dehamiti zaMkAsti me vidhe || 54 ||

इत्युक्त्वा समधुः कामस्सरतिस्सभयस्तदा ।। ययौ मारगणैः सार्द्धं शिवस्थानं मुनीश्वर ।। ५५ ।।

sanskrit

O great sage, after saying thus Kāma, accompanied by Vasanta and Rati started with his troops to the abode of Śiva, despite the fear lurking in his mind.

english translation

ityuktvA samadhuH kAmassaratissabhayastadA || yayau mAragaNaiH sArddhaM zivasthAnaM munIzvara || 55 ||
