ईश्वर उवाच ॥ महापराक्रमनिधे दानवोत्तम सन्मते ॥ गजासुर प्रसन्नोस्मि स्वानकूलं वरं वृणु ॥५६॥
Lord Śiva said: O Gajāsura, O excellent Dānava, O depository of great valour, O well-intentioned one, I am delighted. Choose the boon favourable to you.
english translation
सनत्कुमार उवाच ॥ इत्याकर्ण्य महेशस्य वचनं वरदस्य हि ॥ प्रत्युवाच प्रसन्नात्मा दानवेन्द्रो गजासुरः॥५७॥
Sanatkumāra said: On hearing the words of lord Śiva, the granter of boons, the lord of Dānavas, the delighted Gajāsura replied.
english translation
गजासुर उवाच ॥ यदि प्रसन्नो दिग्वासस्तदा दित्यं वसान मे॥ इमां कृत्तिं महेशान त्वत्त्रिशूलाग्निपाविताम् ॥५८॥
Gajāsura said: O nude one, if you are delighted, O lord Śiva, wear this hide of mine sanctified by the fire of your trident.
english translation
स्वप्रमाणां सुखस्पर्शां रणांगणपणीकृताम् ॥ दर्शनीयां महादिव्यां सर्वदैव सुखावहाम् ॥५९॥
It is of your size, it is gentle to the touch, it has been kept as a stake in the battlefield, it is worth seeing, it is of divine nature and it is always pleasing.
english translation
इष्टगंधिस्सदैवास्तु सदैवास्त्वतिकोमला ॥ सदैव निर्मला चास्तु सदैवास्त्वतिमंडनाम् ॥2-5-57-६०॥
Let it ever emit an agreeable smell, let it be soft for ever, let it be ever free from dirt, let it be your best ornament always.
