महिषाऽसुरपुत्रोऽसौ यदा पुर्यां समागतः ॥ प्रमथन्प्रमथान्सर्वान्निजवीर्यमदोद्धतः॥३१॥
When this son of Mahiṣāsura haughty of his valour entered the city suppressing the Pramathas, Indra and other gods previously vanquished by him sought refuge in Śiva.
english translation
mahiSA'suraputro'sau yadA puryAM samAgataH ॥ pramathanpramathAnsarvAnnijavIryamadoddhataH॥31॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मिन्नवसरे देवाश्शक्राद्यास्तत्पराजिताः ॥ शिवस्य शरणं जग्मुर्नत्वा तुष्टुवुरादरात् ॥ ३२ ॥
On that occasion the gods, Indra and others were defeated. They took refuge in Lord Shiva and bowed down and praised him with respect.
english translation
tasminnavasare devAzzakrAdyAstatparAjitAH ॥ zivasya zaraNaM jagmurnatvA tuSTuvurAdarAt ॥ 32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन्यवेदयन्दानवस्य तस्य काश्यां समागमम् ॥ क्लेशाधिक्यं तत्रत्यानां तन्नाथानां विशेषतः ॥ ३३ ॥
They mentioned to him the arrival of the Dānava at Kāśī, the height of distress of the people there, especially of the rulers.
english translation
nyavedayandAnavasya tasya kAzyAM samAgamam ॥ klezAdhikyaM tatratyAnAM tannAthAnAM vizeSataH ॥ 33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदेवा ऊचुः ॥ देवदेव महादेव तव पुर्यां गतोसुरः ॥ कष्टं दत्ते त्वज्जनानां तं जहि त्वं कृपानिधे ॥ ३४ ॥
The gods said: O great gods, O lord of gods, the Asura has gone to your city. He is inflicting pain on your people. O storehouse of benignity, please slay him.
english translation
devA UcuH ॥ devadeva mahAdeva tava puryAM gatosuraH ॥ kaSTaM datte tvajjanAnAM taM jahi tvaM kRpAnidhe ॥ 34 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयत्रयत्र धरायां च चरणं प्रमिणोति हि ॥ अचलां सचलां तत्र करोति निज भारतः ॥ ३५ ॥
Wherever he sets foot on the earth he shakes the ground there by his great weight.
english translation
yatrayatra dharAyAM ca caraNaM pramiNoti hi ॥ acalAM sacalAM tatra karoti nija bhArataH ॥ 35 ॥
