निवर्त्तस्व रणा द्देव त्वच्छापो न वृथा भवेत् ॥ आज्ञां देहि प्रभो मे त्वं बाणस्य भुजकृंतने ॥ ५६ ॥
O lord, please return from the battle-ground. Let not your curse go in vain. O lord, command me to cut off the hands of Bāṇa.
english translation
सनत्कुमार उवाच ॥ इत्याकर्ण्य वचश्शंभुः श्रीकृष्णस्य मुनीश्वर ॥ प्रत्युवाच प्रसन्नात्मा कृष्णस्तुत्या महेश्वरः ॥ ५७ ॥
Sanatkumāra said: O great sage, on hearing these words of lord Kṛṣṇa, Śiva the supreme lord who was propitiated by Kṛṣṇa’s eulogy, replied:

महेश्वर उवाच ॥ सत्यमुक्तं त्वया तात मया शप्तो हि दैत्यराट् ॥ मदाज्ञया भवान्प्राप्तो बाणदोदंडकृंतने ॥ ५८ ॥
Lord Śiva said: O dear, what you say is true; the lord of the Daityas has been cursed by me. It is at my bidding that you have come here to cut off the hands of Bāṇa.
english translation
किं करोमि रमानाथ भक्ताधीनस्सदा हरे ॥ पश्यतो मे कथं वीर स्याद्बाणभुजकृंतनम् ॥ ५९ ॥
O lord of Lakṣmī, what can I do? O Viṣnu, I am subservient to my devotees always. How can there be the chopping of Bāṇa’s arms while I am watching?
english translation
अतस्त्वं जृंभणास्त्रेण मां जंभय मदाज्ञया ॥ ततस्त्वं कुरु कार्यं स्वं यथेष्टं च सुखी भव ॥ 2-5-54-६० ॥
Hence at my bidding make me benumbed by means of your Jṛṃbhaṇa missile.[Thereafter you can do as you please and be happy.
