एवं दशसहस्राणि सैन्यानि मुनिसत्तम ।। जघान रोषरक्ताक्षो वर्द्धितश्शिवतेजसा ।। ११ ।।

sanskrit

O excellent sage, thus Aniruddha strengthened by Śiva’s splendour, with eyes turned red by anger, killed all the ten thousand men of the army.

english translation

evaM dazasahasrANi sainyAni munisattama || jaghAna roSaraktAkSo varddhitazzivatejasA || 11 ||

लक्षे हतेऽथ योधानां ततो बाणासुरो रुषा ।। कुभांडं स गृहीत्वा तु युद्धे शौंडं समाह्वयत् ।। १२ ।।

sanskrit

With the sword captured in the course of the battle he killed ten thousands of horses and charioteers of the lord of Daityas.

english translation

lakSe hate'tha yodhAnAM tato bANAsuro ruSA || kubhAMDaM sa gRhItvA tu yuddhe zauMDaM samAhvayat || 12 ||

अनिरुद्धं महाबुद्धिं द्वन्द्वयुद्धे महा हवे ।। प्राद्युम्निं रक्षितं शैवतेजसा प्रज्वलत्तनुम् ।। १३ ।।

sanskrit

When a hundred thousand soldiers had been killed, the Asura Bāṇa furiously entered the fray taking with him Kumbhāṇḍa, expert in war.

english translation

aniruddhaM mahAbuddhiM dvandvayuddhe mahA have || prAdyumniM rakSitaM zaivatejasA prajvalattanum || 13 ||

ततो दशसहस्राणि तुरगाणां रथोत्तमान् ।। युद्धप्राप्तेन खड्गेन दैत्येन्द्रस्य जघान सः ।। १४ ।।

sanskrit

He then challenged Aniruddha for a duel in the course of that war—Aniruddha the highly intelligent son of Pradyumna, of refulgent body and protected by Śiva’s brilliance.

तद्वधाय ततश्शक्तिं कालवैश्वानरोपमाम् ।। अनिरुद्धो गृहीत्वा तां तया तं निजघान हि ।। १५ ।।

sanskrit

Aniruddha then seized a spear blazing like the fire of death, for killing him and hit him with that.

english translation

tadvadhAya tatazzaktiM kAlavaizvAnaropamAm || aniruddho gRhItvA tAM tayA taM nijaghAna hi || 15 ||
