नन्दिना चा हृते शुक्रे गिलिते च विषादिना ॥ विषादमगमन्दैत्या यतमानरणोत्सवाः ॥ ६ ॥
When Bhārgava was taken away by Nandin and swallowed by Śiva as he had swallowed poison, the Daityas became grief-stricken and their pride and jubilation for battle became curbed.

तान् वीक्ष्य विगतोत्साहानंधकः प्रत्यभाषत ॥ दैत्यांस्तुहुंडाहुंडदीन्महाधीरपराक्रमः ॥ ७ ॥
On seeing Tuhuṇḍa, Huṇḍa and other Daityas, devoid of enthusiasm, the courageous and valorous Andhaka replied.

अंधक उवाच ॥ कविं विक्रम्य नयता नन्दिना वंचिता वयम् ॥ तनूर्विना कृताः प्राणास्सर्वेषामद्य नो ननु ॥ ८ ॥
Andhaka said: By seizing Bhārgava forcibly from our midst we have been duped by Nandin. Our bodies have been rendered lifeless.

धैर्यं वीर्यं गतिः कीर्तिस्सत्त्वं तेजः पराक्रमः ॥ युगपन्नो हृतं सर्वमेकस्मिन् भार्गवे हृते ॥ ९ ॥
With the taking away of Bhārgava from us, our courage, valour, achievement, fame, strength, splendour and exploit have been simultaneously taken away.

धिगस्मान् कुलपूज्यो यैरेकोपि कुलसत्तमः॥ गुरुस्सर्वसमर्थश्च त्राता त्रातो न चापदि॥2-5-48-१०॥
Fie upon us by whom the sole and excellent preceptor of the family worthy of the respect of the whole race, the virtual protector of all of us and very efficient, has not been saved at the time of adversity.
