अंधस्य दिव्यं हि तथास्तु चक्षुरिन्द्रादयो मे करदा भवंतु॥ मृत्युस्तु माभून्मम देवदैत्यगंधर्वयक्षोरगमानुषेभ्यः ॥११॥
I am now blind but let me be endowed with divine vision. Let Indra and others pay me tax and tribute. Let no death come to me from gods, Daityas, Gandharvas, Yakṣas, serpents or human beings.

नारायणाद्वा दितिजेन्द्रशत्रोस्सर्वाज्जनात्सर्वमयाच्च शर्वात्॥ श्रुत्वा वचस्तस्य सुदारुणं तत्सुशंकितः पद्मभवस्तमाह ॥१२॥
Nor shall I meet with death from Nārāyaṇa, the enemy of leading Daityas, or from the omniscient and omniformed Śiva.On hearing these words of the demon, Brahmā became suspicious. He told him:

ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ दैत्येन्द्र सर्वं भविता तदेतद्विनाशहेतुं च गृहाण किंचित् ॥ यस्मान्न जातो न जनिष्यते वा यो न प्रविष्टो मुखमंतकस्य ॥१३॥
Brahmā said: O leader of Daityas, whatever you ask shall take place. But accept some cause of death because none who is born or who will be born can escape the jaws of death.
english translation
अत्यन्तदीर्घं खलु जीवितं तु भवादृशास्सत्पुरुषास्त्यजंतु॥ एतद्वचस्सानुनयं निशम्य पितामहात्प्राह पुनस्तस्य दैत्यः ॥१४॥
Good men like you should rather avoid too long a life. On hearing these pleading words from Brahmā, the Daitya said again.

अंधक उवाच॥ कालत्रये याश्च भवंति नार्यः श्रेष्ठाश्च मध्याश्च तथा कनिष्ठाः ॥ तासां च मध्ये खलु रत्नभूता ममापि नित्यं जननीव काचित् ॥ १५ ॥
Andhaka said: The most excellent of the ladies in the world for all time whether of mature, middle or young age shall be like a mother unto me.
