ततः स दैत्यस्सहसा बहूंश्च कृत्वा भुजाञ्छस्त्रयुतान्निरीक्ष्य॥ नृसिंहरूपं प्रययौ मृगेन्द्र संयुध्यमानं सहसा समंतात् ॥ ३६ ॥
Then suddenly the Daitya assumed many arms holding weapons. He looked angrily at the fighting man-lion and pounced upon him in a rush.
english translation
tataH sa daityassahasA bahUMzca kRtvA bhujAJchastrayutAnnirIkSya॥ nRsiMharUpaM prayayau mRgendra saMyudhyamAnaM sahasA samaMtAt ॥ 36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस्सुयुद्धं त्वतिदुस्सहं तु शस्त्रैस्समस्तैश्च तथाखिलास्त्रैः ॥ कृत्वा महादैत्यवरो नृसिंहं क्षयं गतैश्शूल धरोऽभ्युपायात् ॥३७॥
Then after a terrific battle fought by all sorts of weapons and missiles they were exhausted. Then the great Daitya himself seized up a spear and rushed at the man-lion.
english translation
tatassuyuddhaM tvatidussahaM tu zastraissamastaizca tathAkhilAstraiH ॥ kRtvA mahAdaityavaro nRsiMhaM kSayaM gataizzUla dharo'bhyupAyAt ॥37॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततो गृहीतस्स मृगाधिपेन भुजैरनेकैर्गिरिसारवद्भि ॥ निधाय जानौ स भुजांतरेषु नखांकुरैर्दानवमर्मभिद्भिः ॥ ३८ ॥
He was seized by the lord of beasts with hands as powerful as mountains. He was placed on the knee, torn and scratched in the chest by the claws piercing every vulnerable joint in the body.
english translation
tato gRhItassa mRgAdhipena bhujairanekairgirisAravadbhi ॥ nidhAya jAnau sa bhujAMtareSu nakhAMkurairdAnavamarmabhidbhiH ॥ 38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनखास्त्रहृत्पद्ममसृग्विमिश्रमुत्पाद्य जीवाद्विगतः क्षणेन ॥ त्यक्तस्तदानीं स तु काष्ठभूतः पुनः पुनश्चूर्णितसर्वगात्रः ॥३९॥
His heart lacerated by his claws was filled with blood. He lay dead like a log of wood, his limbs being reduced to powder.
english translation
nakhAstrahRtpadmamasRgvimizramutpAdya jIvAdvigataH kSaNena ॥ tyaktastadAnIM sa tu kASThabhUtaH punaH punazcUrNitasarvagAtraH ॥39॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मिन्हते देवरिपौ प्रसन्नः प्रह्लादमामंत्र्य कृतप्रणामम् ॥ राज्येऽभिषिच्याद्भुतवीर्यविष्णुस्ततः प्रयातो गतिमप्रतर्क्याम् ॥ 2-5-43-४० ॥
When he was killed, the heroic Viṣṇu was pleased. He beckoned to Prahlāda who bowed to him. He crowned him king and then left for his abode that could not even be imagined.
