तस्मिंस्तपस्तप्यमाने देवास्सर्वे बलान्विताः ॥ दैत्यान्सर्वान्विनिर्जित्य स्वानि स्थानानि भेजिरे ॥ ११ ॥
When he was perfoming penance, the gods accompanied by their forces defeated the Daityas and regained their lost seats.

tasmiMstapastapyamAne devAssarve balAnvitAH ॥ daityAnsarvAnvinirjitya svAni sthAnAni bhejire ॥ 11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य मूर्द्ध्नस्समुद्भूतः सधूमोग्निस्तपोमयः ॥ तिर्यगूर्द्ध्वमधोलोकानतपद्विष्वगीरितः ॥ १२ ॥
The smoking fire of penance springing from his head, spreading all round scorched the worlds all round, above and below.
english translation
tasya mUrddhnassamudbhUtaH sadhUmognistapomayaH ॥ tiryagUrddhvamadholokAnatapadviSvagIritaH ॥ 12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेन तप्ता दिवं त्यक्त्वा ब्रह्मलोकं ययुस्सुराः॥ धात्रे विज्ञापयामासुस्तत्तपोविकृताननाः ॥ १३ ॥
The gods scorched by that, abandoned heaven and went to Brahmā’s region. With their faces turned pale and deformed by his penance they informed the creator of every thing.

tena taptA divaM tyaktvA brahmalokaM yayussurAH॥ dhAtre vijJApayAmAsustattapovikRtAnanAH ॥ 13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ विज्ञापितो देवैर्व्यास तैरात्मभूर्विधिः॥ परीतो भृगुदक्षाद्यैर्ययौ दैत्येश्वराश्रमम् ॥ १४॥
O Vyāsa, thus informed by the gods, the self-born Brahmā went to the hermitage of the Daitya accompanied by Bhṛgu, Dakṣa and others.

atha vijJApito devairvyAsa tairAtmabhUrvidhiH॥ parIto bhRgudakSAdyairyayau daityezvarAzramam ॥ 14॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रताप्य लोकानखिलांस्ततोऽसौ समागतं पद्मभवं ददर्श ॥ वरं हि दातुं तमुवाच धाता वरं वृणीष्वेति पितामहोपि ॥ निशम्य वाचं मधुरां विधातुर्वचोऽब्रवीदेव ममूढबुद्धिः ॥ १५ ॥
The Asura who had already scorched the worlds saw that the lotus-born deity had arrived. In order to grant him the boon Dhātṛ the grandfather of the worlds said—“Choose a boon.” On hearing the sweet words of the creator, the Asura of undismayed intellect spoke thus.

pratApya lokAnakhilAMstato'sau samAgataM padmabhavaM dadarza ॥ varaM hi dAtuM tamuvAca dhAtA varaM vRNISveti pitAmahopi ॥ nizamya vAcaM madhurAM vidhAturvaco'bravIdeva mamUDhabuddhiH ॥ 15 ॥
