स दीपवासनायोगाद्बहून्दीपान्प्रदीप्य वै ।। अलकायाः पतिरभूद्रत्नदीपशिखाश्रयः ।। ६१ ।।

sanskrit

The impression of lamps persisted in his mind. He caused many lamps to be lighted. Finally he became the lord of Alakā[4] with gem-set lamps to his credit.

english translation

sa dIpavAsanAyogAdbahUndIpAnpradIpya vai || alakAyAH patirabhUdratnadIpazikhAzrayaH || 61 ||

एवं फलति कालेन शिवेऽल्पमपि यत्कृतम् ।। इति ज्ञात्वा शिवे कार्यं भजनं सुसुखार्थिभिः ।।६२।।

sanskrit

Thus even the smallest service rendered to Śiva bears rich fruit in time. Let all persons seeking happiness realise this and continue the worship of Śiva.

english translation

evaM phalati kAlena zive'lpamapi yatkRtam || iti jJAtvA zive kAryaM bhajanaM susukhArthibhiH ||62||

क्व स दीक्षितदायादः सर्वधर्मारतिः सदा ।। शिवालये दैवयोगाद्यातश्चोरयितुं वसु ।। स्वार्थदीपदशोद्योतलिंगमौलितमोहरः ।। ६३ ।।

sanskrit

Where now is that heir of the initiated (Dīkṣita), who was always devoted to all righteous duties? By a twist of fate, he entered the temple of Shiva — to steal its wealth! Blinded by the shining flame of selfishness, he lost all sense before the glorious liṅga crowned in divine radiance.

english translation

kva sa dIkSitadAyAdaH sarvadharmAratiH sadA || zivAlaye daivayogAdyAtazcorayituM vasu || svArthadIpadazodyotaliMgamaulitamoharaH || 63 ||

कलिंगविषये राज्यं प्राप्तो धर्मरतिं सदा ।। शिवालये समुद्दीप्य दीपान्प्राग्वासनोदयात् ।। ६४ ।।

sanskrit

In the land of Kaliṅga, he obtained a kingdom and remained always devoted to righteousness. In the temple of Shiva, he lit lamps at dawn—before the rising of the eastern sun.

english translation

kaliMgaviSaye rAjyaM prApto dharmaratiM sadA || zivAlaye samuddIpya dIpAnprAgvAsanodayAt || 64 ||

कैषा दिक्पालपदवी मुनीश्वर विलोकय ।। मनुष्यधर्मिणानेन सांप्रतं येह भुज्यते।।६५।।

sanskrit

O foremost of the sages where the wicked son of the Dīkṣita, and where the guardian of a quarter? Although he had been simply a man, he became the guardian of a quarter.

english translation

kaiSA dikpAlapadavI munIzvara vilokaya || manuSyadharmiNAnena sAMprataM yeha bhujyate||65||
