अभक्षयच्च नैवेद्यं यज्ञदत्तात्मजो मुने ।। शिवानुग्रहतो नूनं भाविपुण्यबलान्न सः ।। २१ ।।

sanskrit

O sage, by the favour of Śiva or by the power of accumulated merit, the son of Yajñadatta could not partake of the offerings of eatables made to Lord Śiva.

english translation

abhakSayacca naivedyaM yajJadattAtmajo mune || zivAnugrahato nUnaM bhAvipuNyabalAnna saH || 21 ||

अथ बद्धस्समागत्य पाशमुद्गरपाणिभिः ।। निनीषुभिः संयमनीं याम्यैस्स विकटैर्भटैः ।। २२ ।।

sanskrit

The terrible soldiers of Yama who desired to take him to Saṃyamani[2] (the abode of Yama), approached him with nooses and clubs in their hands and bound him.

english translation

atha baddhassamAgatya pAzamudgarapANibhiH || ninISubhiH saMyamanIM yAmyaissa vikaTairbhaTaiH || 22 ||

तावत्पारिषदाः प्राप्ताः किंकि णीजालमालिनः ।। दिव्यं विमानमादाय तं नेतुं शूलपाणयः ।। २३ ।।

sanskrit

In the meantime the attendants of Śiva with tridents in their hands and tinkling anklets on their arms reached the spot in an aerial chariot in order to take him to Śivaloka.

english translation

tAvatpAriSadAH prAptAH kiMki NIjAlamAlinaH || divyaM vimAnamAdAya taM netuM zUlapANayaH || 23 ||

शिवगणा ऊचुः ।। ।। मुंचतैनं द्विजं याम्या गणाः परम धार्मिकम् ।। दण्डयोग्यो न विप्रोऽसौ दग्धसर्वाघसंचयः ।। २४ ।।

sanskrit

Śivagaṇas said: O attendants of Yama, leave this righteous brahmin alone. He cannot be punished since his sins have been burnt off.

english translation

zivagaNA UcuH || || muMcatainaM dvijaM yAmyA gaNAH parama dhArmikam || daNDayogyo na vipro'sau dagdhasarvAghasaMcayaH || 24 ||

On hearing these words of Śiva’s attendants, the attendants of Yama became terrified.
