शिवालयं प्रविश्याथ स भक्तश्शिवसक्तधीः ।। यथोचितं सुचित्तेन पूजयामास शंकरम् ।। ११ ।।

The devotee entered the temple of Śiva where he worshipped Him in the prescribed manner with sincere devotion.

english translation

पक्वान्नगंधमाघ्राय यज्ञदत्तात्मजो द्विजः ।। पितृत्यक्तो मातृहीनः क्षुधितः स तमन्वगात् ।।१२।।

sanskrit

The brahmin boy, son of Yajñadatta, devoid of his mother and dismissed by his father, was very hungry by this time. He inhaled the sweet fragrance of the sweet puddings and followed the devotee.

pakvAnnagaMdhamAghrAya yajJadattAtmajo dvijaH || pitRtyakto mAtRhInaH kSudhitaH sa tamanvagAt ||12||

इदमन्नं मया ग्राह्यं शिवायोपकृतं निशि ।। सुप्ते शैवजने दैवात्सर्वस्मिन्विविधं महत् ।। १३ ।।

“If fortunately these devotees of Śiva go to sleep after offering the eatables to Śiva, I shall eat these vast varieties of puddings and sweets in the night”.

विधाय नृत्यगीतादि भक्तास्सुप्ताः क्षणे यदा ।। नैवेद्यं स तदादातुं भर्गागारं विवेश ह ।।१५।।

When the worship was over, the songs and dances of prayer were duly concluded, the devotees lay down and began to sleep. Immediately the young man entered the sanctum sanctorum of Śiva in order to steal the eatables left there.
