गृहीत्वा तस्य सर्वस्वं कुतः प्रस्थापितो बलिः ॥ सुतलादि समुद्धर्तुं तद्द्वारे च गदाधरः ॥ ३१ ॥
After divesting him of every thing why was Bali packed off to Sutala and other regions? Did Viṣṇu go to his threshold as his uplifter?
english translation
सभ्रातृको हिरण्याक्षः कथं देवैश्च हिंसितः ॥ शुंभादयोऽसुराश्चैव कथं देवैर्निपातिताः ॥ ३२ ॥
Why was Hiraṇyākṣa harassed by the gods along with his brother? Why were Śumbha and other Asuras subjected to fall by the gods?
english translation
पुरा समुद्रमथने पीयूषं भक्षितं सुरैः ॥ क्लेशभाजो वयं तत्र ते सर्वे फलभोगिनः॥३३॥
Formerly when the ocean was churned, the nectar was drunk off by the gods.All the strain and stress was ours but the gods reaped the fruit of our endeavour.
english translation
क्रीडाभांडमिदं विश्वं कालस्य परमात्मनः॥ स ददाति यदा यस्मै तस्यै तस्यैश्वर्यं भवे त्तदा ॥३४॥
The entire universe is but an object of sport of Kāla the supreme soul. Whomsoever and whensoever he pleases to bestow the riches he atttains them.
english translation
देवदानवयोर्वैरं शश्वनैमित्तिकं सदा ॥ पराजयो जयस्तेषां कालाधीनः क्रमेण च ॥ ३५ ॥
The enmity of the gods and the Dānavas is perpetual and sparked off due to some reason or other. By turns, subject to the whims of Kāla they enjoy victory or defeat.
