शिव उवाच राज्यं देहि च देवानामधिकारं हि सांप्रतम् ।। नोचेत्कुरु रणं सार्द्धं परेण च मया सताम् ।। ११ ।।

Śiva said: Now, give back their kingdom to the gods and their authority. If not, fight with me, the greatest of the good warriors.

english translation

ziva uvAca rAjyaM dehi ca devAnAmadhikAraM hi sAMpratam || nocetkuru raNaM sArddhaM pareNa ca mayA satAm || 11 ||

देवा मां शरणापन्ना देवेशं शंकरं सताम् ।। अहं क्रुद्धो महारुद्रस्त्वां वधिष्याम्यसंशयम् ।। १२ ।।

The gods have sought refuge in me, the lord of the gods and the benefactor of the good. I the infuriated will certainly slay you.

english translation

devA mAM zaraNApannA devezaM zaMkaraM satAm || ahaM kruddho mahArudrastvAM vadhiSyAmyasaMzayam || 12 ||

हरोऽस्मि सर्वदेवेभ्यो ह्यभयं दत्तवानहम्।। खलदंडधरोऽहं वै शरणागतवत्सलः ।। १३ ।।

I am Śiva, the destroyer. I have granted protection to all the gods. I am the holder of the chastising rod for the wicked and favourably disposed to those who seek refuge in me.

haro'smi sarvadevebhyo hyabhayaM dattavAnaham|| khaladaMDadharo'haM vai zaraNAgatavatsalaH || 13 ||

राज्यं दास्यसि किं वा त्वं करिष्यसि रणं च किम् ।। तत्त्वं ब्रूहि द्वयोरेकं दानवेन्द्र विचार्य वै ।। १४ ।।

O lord of Dānavas, consider and let me know one of the two alternatives specifically, whether you will return the kingdom or fight.

rAjyaM dAsyasi kiM vA tvaM kariSyasi raNaM ca kim || tattvaM brUhi dvayorekaM dAnavendra vicArya vai || 14 ||

पुष्पदंत उवाच ।। इत्युक्तं यन्महेशेन तुभ्यं तन्मे निवेदितम् ।। वितथं शंभुवाक्यं न कदापि दनुजाधिप ।। १५ ।।

Puṣpadanta said: O lord of Dānavas, what has been stated by Śiva has been conveyed to you. Śiva’s words have never gone in vain.
