महापतिव्रतामस्य पत्नी प्रोवाच तामथ ॥ स दीक्षितो यज्ञदत्तः श्रौतकर्मपरायणः ॥ ४६ ॥
Yajñadatta, the sacrificer, well versed in Vedic rites spoke thus to his wife who was a very chaste lady.
english translation
mahApativratAmasya patnI provAca tAmatha ॥ sa dIkSito yajJadattaH zrautakarmaparAyaNaH ॥ 46 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयज्ञदत्त उवाच ॥ दीक्षितायनि कुत्रास्ति धूर्ते गुणनिधिस्सुतः ॥ अथ तिष्ठतु किं तेन क्व सा मम शुभोर्मिका ॥ ॥४७॥
Yajñadatta said: "O trickster, son of the virtuous one, where is Dīkṣitāyanī? Let him be, what use do I have for him? Tell me—where is my beloved Śubhormi?"
english translation
yajJadatta uvAca ॥ dIkSitAyani kutrAsti dhUrte guNanidhissutaH ॥ atha tiSThatu kiM tena kva sA mama zubhormikA ॥ ॥47॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमहापतिव्रतामस्य पत्नी प्रोवाच तामथ ॥ स दीक्षितो यज्ञदत्तः श्रौतकर्मपरायणः ॥ ४६ ॥
Then his wife, a great and devoted pativrata (chaste woman), said to her: 'Yajñadatta has been initiated and is devoted to performing Vedic rituals (śrauta-karma).'

hk transliteration by Sanscriptइति श्रुत्वाथ तद्वाक्यं भीता सा दीक्षितायनी ॥ प्रोवाच स्नानमध्याह्नीं क्रियां निष्पादयत्यथ ॥ ४९ ॥
Hearing these words, Dīkṣitāyanī became afraid and said: "He is now performing his midday bath and ritual duties."
english translation
iti zrutvAtha tadvAkyaM bhItA sA dIkSitAyanI ॥ provAca snAnamadhyAhnIM kriyAM niSpAdayatyatha ॥ 49 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptव्यग्रास्मि देवपूजार्थमुपहारादिकर्मणि ॥ समयोऽयमतिक्रामेदतिथीनां प्रियातिथे ॥ 2-1-17-५० ॥
I am busy with the offerings and duties for the worship of the deities. This is the time when dear guests might arrive and could be kept waiting.
english translation
vyagrAsmi devapUjArthamupahArAdikarmaNi ॥ samayo'yamatikrAmedatithInAM priyAtithe ॥ 2-1-17-50 ॥
