वृषस्तेन प्रहारेण परवृत्तो रणांगणात् ॥ रुद्रेण कृश्यमाणोऽपि न तस्थौ रणभूमिषु ॥ २१ ॥
Due to that blow the bull turned away from the battle field. Even when dragged by Śiva it did not stand there.

अथ लोके महारुद्रस्स्वीयं तेजोऽतिदुस्सहम् ॥ दर्शयामास सर्वस्मै सत्यमेतन्मुनीश्वर ॥ २२ ॥
Then the great Śiva put forth an unbearable splendour visible to all in the battle field. O great sage, this is true.

ततः परमसंक्रुद्धो रुद्रो रौद्रवपुर्धरः ॥ प्रलयानलवद्धोरो बभूव सहसा प्रभुः ॥ २३ ॥
Then the infuriated Śiva assuming a terrible form, became as dreadful as the fire of dissolution, all of a sudden.

दृष्ट्वा पुरः स्थितं दैत्यं मेघकूटमिव स्थितम् ॥ अवध्यत्वमपि श्रुत्वाप्यन्यैरभ्युद्यतोऽभवत् ॥२४॥
On seeing the Daitya standing in front like the lofty peak of Meru and hearing from others that he could not be killed, he stood ready for it.

ब्रह्मणो वचनं रक्षन्रक्षको जगतां प्रभुः ॥ हृदानुग्रहमातन्वंस्तद्वधाय मनो दधत् ॥२५॥
As desired by Brahmā, the lord protector of the worlds decided to kill Jalandhara, blessing him in the heart of his heart.
