पतितैः पात्यमानैश्च गजाश्वरथपत्तिभिः ॥ व्यराजत रणे भूमिस्संध्याभ्रपटलैरिव ॥ ४६ ॥

In that battle, the ground shone like the dusk with clouds scattered all round, for it was strewn with elephants, horses, chariots and foot-soldiers. Some were killed and others were being killed.

तत्र युद्धे मृतान्दैत्यान्भार्गवस्तानजीवयत् ॥ विद्ययामृतजीविन्या मंत्रितैस्तोयबिन्दुभिः ॥ ४७ ॥

Bhārgava resuscitated the Asuras killed in the battle with the Vidyā of Amṛtajīvinī and drops of water infused with mantras.

देवानपि तथा युद्धे तत्राजीवयदंगिराः ॥ दिव्यौषधैस्समानीय द्रोणाद्रेस्स पुनःपुनः ॥ ४८ ॥

The sage Aṅgiras too resuscitated the gods in the battle with the divine herbs frequently brought from the mountain Droṇa.

दृष्टवान्स तथा युद्धे पुनरेव समुत्थितान् ॥ जलंधरः क्रोधवशो भार्गवं वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥४९॥

Jalandhara saw the gods restored to life again in the battle. He then spoke angrily to Bhārgava.

जलंधर उवाच ॥ मया देवा हता युद्धे उत्तिष्ठंति कथं पुनः ॥ ततः संजीविनी विद्या नैवान्यत्रेति वै श्रुता ॥ 2.5.15.५० ॥

Jalandhara said: The gods have been killed by me. How do they rise up again? The Vidyā of Sañjīvinīhas not been heard by me to exist elsewhere.
