सनत्कुमार उवाच ।। इत्थं विसर्जितो दूतो घस्मराख्यस्सुबुद्धिमान् ।। तदेन्द्रेणागमत्तूर्ण्णं यत्र वीरो जलंधरः ।।३६।।

sanskrit

Sanatkumāra said: Dismissed thus by Indra, the intelligent emissary Ghasmara hastened to the place where the heroic Jalandhara was present.

english translation

sanatkumAra uvAca || itthaM visarjito dUto ghasmarAkhyassubuddhimAn || tadendreNAgamattUrNNaM yatra vIro jalaMdharaH ||36||

तदिदं वचनं दैत्यराजो हि तेन धीमता ।। कथितो निखिलं शक्रप्रोक्तं दूतेन वै तदा ।।३७।।

All the words thus spoken by Indra were narrated to the king of Asuras by the intelligent emissary.

tadidaM vacanaM daityarAjo hi tena dhImatA || kathito nikhilaM zakraproktaM dUtena vai tadA ||37||

तन्निशम्य ततो दैत्यो रोषात्प्रस्फुरिताधरः ।। उद्योगमकरोत्तूर्णं सर्वदेवजिगीषया ।।३८।।

sanskrit

On hearing it, the lips of the Asura throbbed with anger. Desirous of conquering the gods he exerted himself immediately.

तदोद्योगेऽसुरेन्द्रस्य दिग्भ्यः पातालतस्तथा ।। दितिजाः प्रत्यपद्यंत कोटिशःकोटिशस्तथा ।।३९।।

In that enterprise of the lord of the Asuras, countless Asuras from all the quarters and the nether region took part and helped him.

tadodyoge'surendrasya digbhyaH pAtAlatastathA || ditijAH pratyapadyaMta koTizaHkoTizastathA ||39||

अथ शुंभनिशुंभाद्यै बलाधिपतिकोटिभिः ।। निर्जगाम महावीरः सिन्धुपुत्रः प्रतापवान् ।।2.5.15.४०।।

Then the extremely heroic and valorous son of the ocean set forth with countless generals, Śumbha, Niśumbha and others.
