आत्मनो नाम विश्राव्य समाभाष्य महासुरान् ।। मार्तंडकोटिवपुषं कांडमुग्रो मुमोच ह ।।२६।।

He addressed the great Asuras and proclaimed his own name. Śiva discharged an arrow that had the refulgence of countless suns.

ददाह त्रिपुरस्थास्तान्दैत्यांस्त्रीन्विमलापहः ।। स आशुगो विष्णुमयो वह्निशल्यो महाज्वलन् ।। २७ ।।

The arrow which was constituted by Viṣṇu and whose steel head was fire god blazed forth and burnt the three Asuras who lived in the three cities. It thereby removed their sins.

dadAha tripurasthAstAndaityAMstrInvimalApahaH || sa Azugo viSNumayo vahnizalyo mahAjvalan || 27 ||

ततः पुराणि दग्धानि चतुर्जलधिमेखलाम् ।। गतानि युगपद्भूमिं त्रीणि दग्धानि भस्मशः ।। २८ ।।

The three cities reduced to ashes fell on the earth girt by the four oceans.

english translation

tataH purANi dagdhAni caturjaladhimekhalAm || gatAni yugapadbhUmiM trINi dagdhAni bhasmazaH || 28 ||

दैत्यास्तु शतशो दग्धास्तस्य बाणस्थवह्निना ।। हाहाकारं प्रकुर्वंतश्शिवपूजाव्यतिक्रमात् ।। २९ ।।

Since they had refrained from the worship of Śiva, hundreds of Asuras were burnt by the fire generated by the arrow. They cried “Hā Hā” in distress.

daityAstu zatazo dagdhAstasya bANasthavahninA || hAhAkAraM prakurvaMtazzivapUjAvyatikramAt || 29 ||

तारकाक्षस्तु निर्दग्धो भ्रातृभ्यां सहितोऽभवत् ।। सस्मार स्वप्रभुं देवं शंकरं भक्तवत्सलम् ।। 2.5.10.३० ।।

Tārakākṣa was burnt along with his two brothers. He remembered his lord Śiva who is favourably disposed to his devotees.
