तत्र तत्र कृतस्थानाः शोभयांचक्रिरे रथम् ।। आवहाद्यास्तथा सप्त सोपानं हैममुत्तमम् ।। २१ ।।

sanskrit

Taking up their places in the different parts of the chariot, they brightened it up. The seven courses of the wind Āvahaetc. constituted the excellent steps of gold leading the chariot.

english translation

tatra tatra kRtasthAnAH zobhayAMcakrire ratham || AvahAdyAstathA sapta sopAnaM haimamuttamam || 21 ||

लोकालोकाचलस्तस्योपसोपानस्समंततः ।। विषयश्च तथा बाह्यो मानसादिस्तु शोभनः ।। २२ ।।

sanskrit

The Lokāloka mountain formed its side steps. The lake mānasa etc. constituted its brilliant outer and oblique steps.

पाशास्समंततस्तस्य सर्वे वर्षाचलास्स्मृताः ।। तलास्तस्य रथस्याऽथ सर्वे तलनिवासिनः ।। २३ ।।

sanskrit

The Varṣa mountains constituted the cords and chains all round the chariot. All the residents of the region Tala constituted the bottem surface of the chariot.

english translation

pAzAssamaMtatastasya sarve varSAcalAssmRtAH || talAstasya rathasyA'tha sarve talanivAsinaH || 23 ||

सारथिर्भगवान्ब्रह्मा देवा रश्मिधराः स्मृताः ।। प्रतोदो ब्रह्मणस्तस्य प्रणवो ब्रह्मदैवतम् ।। २४ ।।

sanskrit

Lord Brahmā was the charioteer, the gods were holders of the bridle. Praṇava the Vedic divinity constituted the long whip of Brahma.

अकारश्च महच्छत्रं मंदरः पार्श्वदंडभाक् ।। शैलेन्द्रः कार्मुकं तस्य ज्या भुजंगाधिपस्स्वयम् ।। २५ ।।

sanskrit

The syllable A constituted the great umbrella, Mandara the side staff. The lord of mountains became his bow and the lord of serpents the bowstring.
