ऋषय ऊचुः ।। ।। व्यासशिष्य महाभाग कथय त्वं प्रमाणतः ।। कैः पुष्पैः पूजितश्शंभुः किं किं यच्छति वै फलम् ।।१।।

The ṛṣis said: O disciple of Vyāsa, O fortunate one, please explain to us authoritatively the fruits granted by Śiva for the different worships with different flowers.

english translation

RSaya UcuH || || vyAsaziSya mahAbhAga kathaya tvaM pramANataH || kaiH puSpaiH pUjitazzaMbhuH kiM kiM yacchati vai phalam ||1||

।। सूत उवाच ।। ।। शौनकाद्याश्च ऋषयः शृणुतादरतोऽखिलम् ।। कथयाम्यद्य सुप्रीत्या पुष्पार्पणविनिर्णयम् ।।२।।

Sūta said: Listen attentively, O sages like Shaunaka, as I narrate with great pleasure the determination regarding the offering of flowers.

एष एव विधिः पृष्टो नारदेन महर्षिणा ।। प्रोवाच परमप्रीत्या पुष्पार्पणविनिर्णयम् ।।३।।

This very procedure was inquired about by the great sage Nārada, who, with utmost affection, explained the determination regarding the offering of flowers.​

ब्रह्मोवाच।। कमलैर्बिल्वपत्रैश्च शतपत्रैस्तथा पुनः ।। शंखपुष्पैस्तथा देवं लक्ष्मीकामोऽर्चयेच्छिवम् ।।४।।

Brahmā said: A person desirous of wealth shall worship lord Śiva with lotuses, Bilva leaves, petals of lotuses or with Śaṅkha flowers.

एतैश्च लक्षसंख्याकैः पूजितश्चेद्भवेच्छिवः ।। पापहानिस्तथा विप्र लक्ष्मीस्स्यान्नात्र संशयः ।। ५।।

O Brahmin, if a devotee worships Śiva with a hundred flowers, his sins shall be wiped off and the devotee shall become rich.
