वसंते सर्वकामांश्च गीतवादित्रनिस्स्वनम् ॥ विहाय सोत्सवं तेपुस्त्रयस्ते तारकात्मजाः॥११॥
The three sons of Tāraka eschewed all desires in the season of spring. They disdained music, the sound of instruments as well as jubilation and performed penances.
english translation
vasaMte sarvakAmAMzca gItavAditranissvanam ॥ vihAya sotsavaM tepustrayaste tArakAtmajAH॥11॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptग्रीष्मे सूर्यप्रभां जित्वा दिक्षु प्रज्वाल्य पावकम् ॥ तन्मध्यसंस्थाः सिद्ध्यर्थं जुहुवुर्हव्यमादरात् ॥१२॥
In the summer season they mastered sunshine. They lighted fires in all directions. Standing in their midst they performed sacrifice with great devotion for the attainment of success.

grISme sUryaprabhAM jitvA dikSu prajvAlya pAvakam ॥ tanmadhyasaMsthAH siddhyarthaM juhuvurhavyamAdarAt ॥12॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमहाप्रतापपतितास्सर्वेप्यासन् सुमूर्छिताः ॥ वर्षासु गतसंत्रासा वृष्टिं मूर्द्धन्यधारयन् ॥१३॥
They lay unconscious in the blazing sunshine. During the rainy season, they fearlessly bore all the showers on their heads.

mahApratApapatitAssarvepyAsan sumUrchitAH ॥ varSAsu gatasaMtrAsA vRSTiM mUrddhanyadhArayan ॥13॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशरत्काले प्रसूतं तु भोजनं तु बुभुक्षिताः ॥ रम्यं स्निग्धं स्थिरं हृद्यं फलं मूलमनुत्तमम्॥१४॥
In the autumn they controlled their hunger and thirst. All good foodstuffs, steady, wholesome, and viscid, fruits, roots and beverages they distributed among the hungry.

zaratkAle prasUtaM tu bhojanaM tu bubhukSitAH ॥ ramyaM snigdhaM sthiraM hRdyaM phalaM mUlamanuttamam॥14॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंयमात्क्षुत्तृषो जित्वा पानान्युच्चावचान्यपि ॥ बुभुक्षितेभ्यो दत्त्वा तु बुभूवुरुपला इव ॥१५॥
Through self-restraint, they conquered hunger and thirst, even abstaining from various kinds of drinks. Giving food to the hungry, they themselves endured like stones (without craving).
