हाहाकारो महानासीत्त्रैलोक्ये सचराचरे ।। त्रिलोकस्था जनास्सर्वे संशयं परमं गताः ।।४१।।

There was a great hue and cry in all the three worlds consisting of the mobile and immobile. The inhabitants of the worlds were in a great fix and uncertainty.

न यातं ब्रह्मणोऽप्यायुर्ब्रह्मांड क्षयमेति हि ।। अकाले च तथा नूनं शिवेच्छावशतः स्वयम् ।।४२।।

Brahma’s life span is not over, but the whole universe is undergoing untimely destruction. Certainly it is due to Śiva’s wish.

english translation

na yAtaM brahmaNo'pyAyurbrahmAMDa kSayameti hi || akAle ca tathA nUnaM zivecchAvazataH svayam ||42||

ते सर्वे चागतास्तत्र षण्मुखाद्याश्च ये पुनः ।। देवा व्यर्थायुधा जाता आश्चर्यं परमं गताः ।। ४३ ।।

The sixfaced deity and the other gods who came there failed to use their weapons effectively. They were very much surprised.

te sarve cAgatAstatra SaNmukhAdyAzca ye punaH || devA vyarthAyudhA jAtA AzcaryaM paramaM gatAH || 43 ||

एतस्मिन्नन्तरे देवी जगदम्बा विबोधना ।। ज्ञात्वा तच्चरितं सर्वमपारं क्रोधमादधे ।। ४४ ।।

In the meantime, goddess, the mother of the universe, of special knowledge, came to know of the entire incident and was very furious.

etasminnantare devI jagadambA vibodhanA || jJAtvA taccaritaM sarvamapAraM krodhamAdadhe || 44 ||

शक्तिद्वयं तदा तत्र तया देव्या मुनीश्वर ।। निर्मितं स्वगणस्यैव सर्वसाहाय्यहेतवे ।।४५।।

O great sage, the goddess created two Śaktisthen and there for the assistance of her own Gaṇa.

zaktidvayaM tadA tatra tayA devyA munIzvara || nirmitaM svagaNasyaiva sarvasAhAyyahetave ||45||
