एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु शिवो द्वारि समागतः ॥ कौतुकी मुनिर्शादूल नानालीलाविशारदः ॥३१॥
O excellent sage, at this very moment Śiva who is eagerly indulgent and an expert in various divine sports came near the door.
english translation
उवाच च शिवेशं तमविज्ञाय गणाधिपः ॥ मातुराज्ञां विना देव गम्यतां न त्वया धुना ॥ ३२ ॥
Not knowing that he was lord Śiva, the consort of Pārvatī, Gaṇeśa said—“O sir, without my mother’s permission you shall not go in now.

मज्जनार्थं स्थिता माता क्व यासीतो व्रजाधुना ॥ इत्युक्त्वा यष्टिकां तस्य रोधनाय तदाग्रहीत् ॥ ३३ ॥
My mother has entered the bath. Where are you going now? Go away” saying thus, he took up his staff to ward him off.
english translation
तं दृष्ट्वा तु शिवः प्राह कं निषेधसि मूढधीः ॥ मां न जानास्यसद्बुद्धे शिवोहमिति नान्यथा ॥ ३४ ॥
On seeing him Śiva said “O foolish fellow, whom are you forbidding? O wicked knave, don’t you know me? I Śiva, none else”.
english translation
ताडितस्तेन यष्ट्या हि गणेशेन महेश्वरः ॥ प्रत्युवाच स तं पुत्रं बहुलीलश्च कोपितः ॥ ३५॥
Thereupon Gaṇeśa beat Śiva with the staff. Śiva expert in various sports became infuriated and spoke to his son thus.
