प्रहस्य भगवाञ् शंभुश्शशंस गिरिजां तदा ॥ निरीक्ष्य कृपया दृष्ट्या कृपालुर्लीलयाकृतिम् ॥३६॥
Seeing that sportive act with his merciful vision, lord Śiva spoke about it to Pārvatī laughingly.
english translation
मदस्मितेन च तदा भगवान्महेशः प्राप्तो मुदं च परमां गिरिजासमेतः ॥ प्रेम्णा स गद्गदगिरो जगदेकबंधुर्नोवाच किंचन विभुर्भुवनैकभर्त्ता॥ ३७ ॥
Seeing the gentle smile of Kumāra, lord Śiva and Pārvatī attained great joy. The lord, the sole ruler of the worlds and kinsman of the universe uttered nothing with his throat choked through affection.
english translation
अथ शंभुर्जगन्नाथो हृष्टो लौकिकवृत्तवान् ॥ रत्नसिंहासने रम्ये वासयामास कार्त्तिकम्॥३८॥
hen Śiva, the lord of the universe, following the worldly convention delightedly placed Kārttikeya on a beautiful gemset throne.
english translation
वेदमंत्राभिपूतैश्च सर्वतीर्थोदपूर्णकैः ॥ सद्रत्नकुंभशतकैः स्नापया मास तं मुदा ॥ ३९ ॥
With hundreds of gemset pots filled with the waters of holy centres sanctified by Vedic mantras he performed his ceremonial ablution joyously.

सद्रत्नसाररचितकिरीटमुकुटांगदम्॥ वैजयन्ती स्वमालां च तस्मै चक्रं ददौ हरिः ॥2-4-5-४०॥
Viṣṇu gave him a crown, a coronet and bracelets moulded and set in gems, his own necklace Vaijayanti and the discus.
