एतस्मिन्नंतरे देवा नारदाद्देवदर्शनात् ॥ बुबुधुस्तन्मितं भोगं तयोश्च रममाणयोः ॥ २१ ॥
Brahmā said: In the meantime, from Nārada who has the divine vision the gods came to know of the extent of the enjoyment of the couple engaged in dalliance.
english translation
चिरं ज्ञात्वा तयोर्भोगं चिंतामापुस्सुराश्च ते॥ ब्रह्माणं मां पुरस्कृत्य ययुर्नारायणांतिकम्॥२२॥
Realising that their enjoyment had extended over a long time, the gods became worried. Making me Brahmā as their leader they approached Viṣṇu Nārāyaṇa.
english translation
तं नत्वा कथितं सर्वं मया वृत्तांतमीप्सितम् ॥ सन्तस्थिरे सर्वदेवा चित्रे पुत्तलिका यथा ॥२३॥
After bowing to him I narrated to him all the details we desired to convey. The gods stood steady and silent like dolls painted in a picture.
english translation
ब्रह्मोवाच॥ सहस्रवर्ष पर्य्यन्तं देवमानेन शंकरः ॥ रतौ रतश्च निश्चेष्टो योगी विरमते न हि ॥२४॥
For a thousand years according to the calculation of the gods, Śiva the Yogin has been engaged in sexual dalliance. He does not desist from it.
english translation
भगवानुवाच ॥ चिन्ता नास्ति जगद्धातस्सर्वं भद्रं भविष्यति ॥ शरणं व्रज देवेश शंकरस्य महाप्रभोः ॥ २५ ॥
Lord Viṣṇu said: O creator of the universe, there is nothing to worry about. Everything will be well. O lord of gods, seek refuge in the great lord Śiva.
