ब्रह्मोवाच ।। अथ शैलवरस्तात हिमवान्भाग्यसत्तमः ।। प्राङ्गणं रचयामास भोजनार्थं विचक्षणः ।।१।।

sanskrit

Brahmā said: O dear one, then the clever chief of mountains caused suitable arrangements to be made in the courtyard for feeding the visitors.

english translation

brahmovAca || atha zailavarastAta himavAnbhAgyasattamaH || prAGgaNaM racayAmAsa bhojanArthaM vicakSaNaH ||1||

मार्जनं लेपनं सम्यक्कारयामास तस्य सः ।। स सुगन्धैरलञ्चक्रे नानावस्तुभिरादरात् ।।२।।

sanskrit

He caused the ground to be swept clean and scrubbed well. Different kinds of fragrant stuffs were used to make the place attractive and pleasing.

english translation

अथ शैलस्सुरान्सर्वानन्यानपि च सेश्वरान् ।। भोजनायाह्वयामास पुत्रैश्शैलैः परैरपि ।।३।।

sanskrit

Then the mountain invited all the gods and others along with the lord for taking food, through his sons and others.

english translation

शैलाह्वानमथाकर्ण्य स प्रभुस्साच्युतो मुने ।। सर्वैस्सुरादिभिस्तत्र भोजनाय ययौ मुदा।।४।।

sanskrit

O sage, on hearing the invitation of the mountain, the lord accompanied by Viṣṇu, the gods and others went gladly to take His meal.

english translation

zailAhvAnamathAkarNya sa prabhussAcyuto mune || sarvaissurAdibhistatra bhojanAya yayau mudA||4||

गिरिः प्रभुं च सर्वांस्तान्सुसत्कृत्य यथाविधि ।। मुदोपवेशयामास सत्पीठेषु गृहान्तरे ।।५।।

The mountain received the lord and all those duly and made them sit in good seats in the inner apartment.

english translation

giriH prabhuM ca sarvAMstAnsusatkRtya yathAvidhi || mudopavezayAmAsa satpITheSu gRhAntare ||5||
