तद्दिने योजनं गत्वा विंशति ग्रामके शुभे ॥ उवासास्तं गते भानौ गृहे विप्रस्य कस्यचित् ॥ ३६ ॥
He walked about twelve kilometres that day and when the sun set, he halted at the house of a certain Brahmin in the auspicious village of Viṃśatigrāma.
english translation
taddine yojanaM gatvA viMzati grAmake zubhe ॥ uvAsAstaM gate bhAnau gRhe viprasya kasyacit ॥ 36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचक्रे सन्ध्यादिसत्कर्म स द्विजो विधिपूर्वकम् ॥ स्तवादि कृतवांस्तत्र शंभोरद्भुतकर्मणः ॥ ३७॥
He performed Sandhyā and other rites duly. He recited the hymns of prayer to Śiva of wonderful activities.
english translation
cakre sandhyAdisatkarma sa dvijo vidhipUrvakam ॥ stavAdi kRtavAMstatra zaMbhoradbhutakarmaNaH ॥ 37॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसेवकेन तदा युक्तो ब्राह्मणः संस्थितस्तदा ॥ यामिनी च गता तत्र मुहूर्तद्वयसंमिता ॥ ३८ ॥
Then the brahmin accompanied by his servant stood there The night passed there for two moments.
english translation
sevakena tadA yukto brAhmaNaH saMsthitastadA ॥ yAminI ca gatA tatra muhUrtadvayasaMmitA ॥ 38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतस्मिन्नंतरे तत्रैकमाश्चर्य्यमभूत्तदा ॥ शृणुतादरतस्तच्च मुनयो वो वदाम्यहम् ॥ ३९ ॥
After this there was one surprise O sages hear with respect what I shall tell you.

etasminnaMtare tatraikamAzcaryyamabhUttadA ॥ zRNutAdaratastacca munayo vo vadAmyaham ॥ 39 ॥
