॥ गंगोवाच ॥ यूयं सर्वप्रियार्थं च तिष्ठथात्र न किं पुनः ॥ गौतमं क्षालयित्वाहं गमिष्यामि यथागतम्॥ ४१॥
Gaṅgā said: Why don't you stay here for the pleasure and welfare of all? After washing off the sin of Gautama I shall go back the way I have come.
english translation
भवत्सु मे विशेषोत्र ज्ञेयश्चैव कथं सुराः ॥ तत्प्रमाणं कृतं चेत्स्यात्तदा तिष्ठाम्यसंशयम् ॥ ४२॥
O gods, how may my speciality be known apart from yours? If you can prove the same, I shall undoubtedly stay here.
english translation
॥ सर्वे ऊचुः ॥ सिंहराशौ यदा स्याद्वै गुरुस्सर्वसुहृत्तमः ॥ तदा वयं च सर्वे त्वागमिष्यामो न संशयः ॥ ४३ ॥
The gods said:— 43. When Jupiter, the most friendly to all, comes to the zodiac of Leo all of us will come. There is no doubt about it.

एकादश च वर्षाणि लोकानां पातकं त्विह ॥ क्षालितं यद्भवेदेवं मलिनास्स्मः सरिद्वरे ॥ ४४॥
For eleven years the sins of the worlds have been in this world. Whatever is washed away, we are dirty in the best of rivers.
english translation
तस्यैव क्षालनाय त्वायास्यामस्सर्वथा प्रिये ॥ त्वत्सकाशं महादेवि प्रोच्यते सत्यमादरात् ॥ ४५॥
We will try to wash you off for that very reason, dear one. O great goddess I am speaking with truth and respect to you.
