त्रिवारं पृथिवीं सर्वां क्रम पापं प्रकाशयन् ।। पुनरागत्य चात्रैव चर मासव्रतं तथा ।। ५१ ।।

Go round the earth three times announcing your sin. After returning to this place perform the holy Vrata for a month.

english translation

trivAraM pRthivIM sarvAM krama pApaM prakAzayan || punarAgatya cAtraiva cara mAsavrataM tathA || 51 ||

शतमेकोत्तरं चैव ब्रह्मणोऽस्य गिरेस्तथा ।। प्रक्रमणं विधायैवं शुद्धिस्ते च भविष्यति ।। ५२ ।।

If you go round this mountain Brahmagiri hundred and one times you can attain purity.

english translation

zatamekottaraM caiva brahmaNo'sya girestathA || prakramaNaM vidhAyaivaM zuddhiste ca bhaviSyati || 52 ||

अथवा त्वं समानीय गंगास्नानं समाचर ।। पार्थिवानां तथा कोटिं कृत्वा देवं निषेवय ।। ५३ ।।

Or you fetch water from Gaṅgā and perform the ceremonial ablution. Propitiate lord Śiva making a crore of his phallic images.

athavA tvaM samAnIya gaMgAsnAnaM samAcara || pArthivAnAM tathA koTiM kRtvA devaM niSevaya || 53 ||

गंगायां च ततः स्नात्वा पुनश्चैव भविष्यति ।। पुरा दश तथा चैकं गिरेस्त्वं क्रमणं कुरु ।। ५४ ।।

At the outset, you circumambulate this mountain eleven times. Taking bath in Gaṅgā you will become pure thereafter.

gaMgAyAM ca tataH snAtvA punazcaiva bhaviSyati || purA daza tathA caikaM girestvaM kramaNaM kuru || 54 ||

शत कुंभैस्तथा स्नात्वा पार्थिवं निष्कृतिर्भवेत् ।। इति तैर्षिभिः प्रोक्तस्तथेत्योमिति तद्वचः ।। ५५ ।।

Performing the ablution of the earthen phallic image of Śiva with a hundred potful of water, the expiatory rite will be completed.” When he was thus urged by the sages he said in the affirmative.

zata kuMbhaistathA snAtvA pArthivaM niSkRtirbhavet || iti tairSibhiH proktastathetyomiti tadvacaH || 55 ||
