ज॒ज्ञा॒नो नु श॒तक्र॑तु॒र्वि पृ॑च्छ॒दिति॑ मा॒तर॑म् । क उ॒ग्राः के ह॑ शृण्विरे ॥ जज्ञानो नु शतक्रतुर्वि पृच्छदिति मातरम् । क उग्राः के ह शृण्विरे ॥
As soon as he was born Śatakratu asked his mother, who are the mgihty, who are renowned?
english translation
आदीं॑ शव॒स्य॑ब्रवीदौर्णवा॒भम॑ही॒शुव॑म् । ते पु॑त्र सन्तु नि॒ष्टुर॑: ॥ आदीं शवस्यब्रवीदौर्णवाभमहीशुवम् । ते पुत्र सन्तु निष्टुरः ॥
His strong mother answered, -- Aurṇavābha and Ahiṣuva, be these, my son the foes who you shall overcome.
english translation
समित्तान्वृ॑त्र॒हाखि॑द॒त्खे अ॒राँ इ॑व॒ खेद॑या । प्रवृ॑द्धो दस्यु॒हाभ॑वत् ॥ समित्तान्वृत्रहाखिदत्खे अराँ इव खेदया । प्रवृद्धो दस्युहाभवत् ॥
The slayer of Vṛtra dragged them along as spokes (are tied fast) with a rope in the nave of a chariot wheel; he swelled in vigour, the slayer of enemies.
english translation
एक॑या प्रति॒धापि॑बत्सा॒कं सरां॑सि त्रिं॒शत॑म् । इन्द्र॒: सोम॑स्य काणु॒का ॥ एकया प्रतिधापिबत्साकं सरांसि त्रिंशतम् । इन्द्रः सोमस्य काणुका ॥
At one draught Indra drank at once thirty lakes filled witḥ Soma.
english translation
अ॒भि ग॑न्ध॒र्वम॑तृणदबु॒ध्नेषु॒ रज॒स्स्वा । इन्द्रो॑ ब्र॒ह्मभ्य॒ इद्वृ॒धे ॥ अभि गन्धर्वमतृणदबुध्नेषु रजस्स्वा । इन्द्रो ब्रह्मभ्य इद्वृधे ॥
In the realms (of the sky) where the foot finds no resting-plural ce, Indra shattered the cloud to bring increase to the brāhmaṇas.
