त्वामिद्धि हवा॑महे सा॒ता वाज॑स्य का॒रव॑: । त्वां वृ॒त्रेष्वि॑न्द्र॒ सत्प॑तिं॒ नर॒स्त्वां काष्ठा॒स्वर्व॑तः ॥ त्वामिद्धि हवामहे साता वाजस्य कारवः । त्वां वृत्रेष्विन्द्र सत्पतिं नरस्त्वां काष्ठास्वर्वतः ॥

sanskrit

We worshippers invoke you for the acquisition of food; you, Indra, the protector of the good, (do) men (invoke for aid) against enemies, and in plural ces where horses (encounter).

english translation

tvAmiddhi havA॑mahe sA॒tA vAja॑sya kA॒rava॑: | tvAM vR॒treSvi॑ndra॒ satpa॑tiM॒ nara॒stvAM kASThA॒svarva॑taH || tvAmiddhi havAmahe sAtA vAjasya kAravaH | tvAM vRtreSvindra satpatiM narastvAM kASThAsvarvataH ||

स त्वं न॑श्चित्र वज्रहस्त धृष्णु॒या म॒हः स्त॑वा॒नो अ॑द्रिवः । गामश्वं॑ र॒थ्य॑मिन्द्र॒ सं कि॑र स॒त्रा वाजं॒ न जि॒ग्युषे॑ ॥ स त्वं नश्चित्र वज्रहस्त धृष्णुया महः स्तवानो अद्रिवः । गामश्वं रथ्यमिन्द्र सं किर सत्रा वाजं न जिग्युषे ॥

sanskrit

Wonderful wielder of the thunderbolt, Indra, the lord of clouds, mighty in resolution, being glorified by us, grant us cattle, and horses fit for chariots, as (you grant) abundant food to him who is victorious (in battle).

english translation

sa tvaM na॑zcitra vajrahasta dhRSNu॒yA ma॒haH sta॑vA॒no a॑drivaH | gAmazvaM॑ ra॒thya॑mindra॒ saM ki॑ra sa॒trA vAjaM॒ na ji॒gyuSe॑ || sa tvaM nazcitra vajrahasta dhRSNuyA mahaH stavAno adrivaH | gAmazvaM rathyamindra saM kira satrA vAjaM na jigyuSe ||

यः स॑त्रा॒हा विच॑र्षणि॒रिन्द्रं॒ तं हू॑महे व॒यम् । सह॑स्रमुष्क॒ तुवि॑नृम्ण॒ सत्प॑ते॒ भवा॑ स॒मत्सु॑ नो वृ॒धे ॥ यः सत्राहा विचर्षणिरिन्द्रं तं हूमहे वयम् । सहस्रमुष्क तुविनृम्ण सत्पते भवा समत्सु नो वृधे ॥

We invoke that Indra who is the desroyer of mighty foes, the supervisor (of all things); do you, the many organed, the protector of the good, the distributor of wealth, be unto us (the insurer of) success in combats.

english translation

yaH sa॑trA॒hA vica॑rSaNi॒rindraM॒ taM hU॑mahe va॒yam | saha॑sramuSka॒ tuvi॑nRmNa॒ satpa॑te॒ bhavA॑ sa॒matsu॑ no vR॒dhe || yaH satrAhA vicarSaNirindraM taM hUmahe vayam | sahasramuSka tuvinRmNa satpate bhavA samatsu no vRdhe ||

बाध॑से॒ जना॑न्वृष॒भेव॑ म॒न्युना॒ घृषौ॑ मी॒ळ्ह ऋ॑चीषम । अ॒स्माकं॑ बोध्यवि॒ता म॑हाध॒ने त॒नूष्व॒प्सु सूर्ये॑ ॥ बाधसे जनान्वृषभेव मन्युना घृषौ मीळ्ह ऋचीषम । अस्माकं बोध्यविता महाधने तनूष्वप्सु सूर्ये ॥

Such, Indra, as you are represented in holy texts, assail (our) adversaries with fierceness like (that of) a bull in close conflict; regard yourself as our defender in war, (that we may long enjoy) posterity, water, and the sight of the) sun.

english translation

bAdha॑se॒ janA॑nvRSa॒bheva॑ ma॒nyunA॒ ghRSau॑ mI॒Lha R॑cISama | a॒smAkaM॑ bodhyavi॒tA ma॑hAdha॒ne ta॒nUSva॒psu sUrye॑ || bAdhase janAnvRSabheva manyunA ghRSau mILha RcISama | asmAkaM bodhyavitA mahAdhane tanUSvapsu sUrye ||

इन्द्र॒ ज्येष्ठं॑ न॒ आ भ॑रँ॒ ओजि॑ष्ठं॒ पपु॑रि॒ श्रव॑: । येने॒मे चि॑त्र वज्रहस्त॒ रोद॑सी॒ ओभे सु॑शिप्र॒ प्राः ॥ इन्द्र ज्येष्ठं न आ भरँ ओजिष्ठं पपुरि श्रवः । येनेमे चित्र वज्रहस्त रोदसी ओभे सुशिप्र प्राः ॥

Indra, bring to us most excellent, most invigorating and nutritious food, wherewith, wonderful wielder of the thunderbolt, the handsome-chinned, you sustain both heaven and earth.

english translation
