स॒मि॒ध्यमा॑नः प्रथ॒मानु॒ धर्मा॒ सम॒क्तुभि॑रज्यते वि॒श्ववा॑रः । शो॒चिष्के॑शो घृ॒तनि॑र्णिक्पाव॒कः सु॑य॒ज्ञो अ॒ग्निर्य॒जथा॑य दे॒वान् ॥ समिध्यमानः प्रथमानु धर्मा समक्तुभिरज्यते विश्ववारः । शोचिष्केशो घृतनिर्णिक्पावकः सुयज्ञो अग्निर्यजथाय देवान् ॥
The righteous (Agni) when first kindled on the several (altars) the object of adoration by all, whose hair is flame, and who is cleansed with butter, the purifier, the worthy-worshipped, is sprinkled with oblations for the worship of the gods.
english translation
यथाय॑जो हो॒त्रम॑ग्ने पृथि॒व्या यथा॑ दि॒वो जा॑तवेदश्चिकि॒त्वान् । ए॒वानेन॑ ह॒विषा॑ यक्षि दे॒वान्म॑नु॒ष्वद्य॒ज्ञं प्र ति॑रे॒मम॒द्य ॥ यथायजो होत्रमग्ने पृथिव्या यथा दिवो जातवेदश्चिकित्वान् । एवानेन हविषा यक्षि देवान्मनुष्वद्यज्ञं प्र तिरेममद्य ॥
As you did offer the burnt-offering, Agni, (on behalf of) earth; as you, Jātavedas, who are cognizant (of sacred rites, did offer sacrifice on behalf) of heaven; so with this oblation worship the gods, and perfect this rite today (as you did) that of Manu.
english translation
त्रीण्यायूं॑षि॒ तव॑ जातवेदस्ति॒स्र आ॒जानी॑रु॒षस॑स्ते अग्ने । ताभि॑र्दे॒वाना॒मवो॑ यक्षि वि॒द्वानथा॑ भव॒ यज॑मानाय॒ शं योः ॥ त्रीण्यायूंषि तव जातवेदस्तिस्र आजानीरुषसस्ते अग्ने । ताभिर्देवानामवो यक्षि विद्वानथा भव यजमानाय शं योः ॥
Three are your existences Jātavedas; three, Agni, are your parent dawns; with them offer the oblation of the gods, the knowing (his wishes) be the bestower of happiness on the instrumental tutor of the sacrifice.
english translation
अ॒ग्निं सु॑दी॒तिं सु॒दृशं॑ गृ॒णन्तो॑ नम॒स्याम॒स्त्वेड्यं॑ जातवेदः । त्वां दू॒तम॑र॒तिं ह॑व्य॒वाहं॑ दे॒वा अ॑कृण्वन्न॒मृत॑स्य॒ नाभि॑म् ॥ अग्निं सुदीतिं सुदृशं गृणन्तो नमस्यामस्त्वेड्यं जातवेदः । त्वां दूतमरतिं हव्यवाहं देवा अकृण्वन्नमृतस्य नाभिम् ॥
Jātavedas, we venerate you, glorifying the brilliant, beautiful, adorable Agni; the gods have made you their messenger, the disinterested bearer of oblations, the centre of ambrosia.
english translation
यस्त्वद्धोता॒ पूर्वो॑ अग्ने॒ यजी॑यान्द्वि॒ता च॒ सत्ता॑ स्व॒धया॑ च श॒म्भुः । तस्यानु॒ धर्म॒ प्र य॑जा चिकि॒त्वोऽथ॑ नो धा अध्व॒रं दे॒ववी॑तौ ॥ यस्त्वद्धोता पूर्वो अग्ने यजीयान्द्विता च सत्ता स्वधया च शम्भुः । तस्यानु धर्म प्र यजा चिकित्वोऽथ नो धा अध्वरं देववीतौ ॥
He is the most diligent offerer of worship who is the presenter of oblations before you are and who in two plural ces (the middling and the best) seated with the sacrificial food is (the source of) happiness (to the worshippers); do you cognizant (of the objects of devotion), officiate in accordance with his piety, and thus render our rite acceptable to the gods.
