त्वं नो॑ गो॒पाः प॑थि॒कृद्वि॑चक्ष॒णस्तव॑ व्र॒ताय॑ म॒तिभि॑र्जरामहे । बृह॑स्पते॒ यो नो॑ अ॒भि ह्वरो॑ द॒धे स्वा तं म॑र्मर्तु दु॒च्छुना॒ हर॑स्वती ॥ त्वं नो गोपाः पथिकृद्विचक्षणस्तव व्रताय मतिभिर्जरामहे । बृहस्पते यो नो अभि ह्वरो दधे स्वा तं मर्मर्तु दुच्छुना हरस्वती ॥
You, Bṛhaspati, are our protector and the guide of (our) path; (you are) the discerner (of all things); we worship with praises for your adoration; may his own precipitate malice involve him (in destruction) who practises deceit against us.
english translation
उ॒त वा॒ यो नो॑ म॒र्चया॒दना॑गसोऽराती॒वा मर्त॑: सानु॒को वृक॑: । बृह॑स्पते॒ अप॒ तं व॑र्तया प॒थः सु॒गं नो॑ अ॒स्यै दे॒ववी॑तये कृधि ॥ उत वा यो नो मर्चयादनागसोऽरातीवा मर्तः सानुको वृकः । बृहस्पते अप तं वर्तया पथः सुगं नो अस्यै देववीतये कृधि ॥
Turn aside from (the true) path, Bṛhaspati, the arrogant and savage man who advances to injure us, although unoffending and keep us in the right way for (the completion of) this offering to the gods.
english translation
त्रा॒तारं॑ त्वा त॒नूनां॑ हवाम॒हेऽव॑स्पर्तरधिव॒क्तार॑मस्म॒युम् । बृह॑स्पते देव॒निदो॒ नि ब॑र्हय॒ मा दु॒रेवा॒ उत्त॑रं सु॒म्नमुन्न॑शन् ॥ त्रातारं त्वा तनूनां हवामहेऽवस्पर्तरधिवक्तारमस्मयुम् । बृहस्पते देवनिदो नि बर्हय मा दुरेवा उत्तरं सुम्नमुन्नशन् ॥
Bṛhaspati, defender (from calamity), we invoke you, the protector of our person ns, the speaker of encouraging words and well disposed towards us; do you destroy the revilers of the gods; let not the malevolent attain supreme felicity.
english translation
त्वया॑ व॒यं सु॒वृधा॑ ब्रह्मणस्पते स्पा॒र्हा वसु॑ मनु॒ष्या द॑दीमहि । या नो॑ दू॒रे त॒ळितो॒ या अरा॑तयो॒ऽभि सन्ति॑ ज॒म्भया॒ ता अ॑न॒प्नस॑: ॥ त्वया वयं सुवृधा ब्रह्मणस्पते स्पार्हा वसु मनुष्या ददीमहि । या नो दूरे तळितो या अरातयोऽभि सन्ति जम्भया ता अनप्नसः ॥
Through you, Brahmaṇaspati, (our) benefactor, may we obtain desirable wealth from men destroy those (our) unrighteous enemies, whether nigh or far off, who prevail against us.
english translation
त्वया॑ व॒यमु॑त्त॒मं धी॑महे॒ वयो॒ बृह॑स्पते॒ पप्रि॑णा॒ सस्नि॑ना यु॒जा । मा नो॑ दु॒:शंसो॑ अभिदि॒प्सुरी॑शत॒ प्र सु॒शंसा॑ म॒तिभि॑स्तारिषीमहि ॥ त्वया वयमुत्तमं धीमहे वयो बृहस्पते पप्रिणा सस्निना युजा । मा नो दुःशंसो अभिदिप्सुरीशत प्र सुशंसा मतिभिस्तारिषीमहि ॥
Through you, Bṛhaspati, (who are) the fulfiller of our desires; pure, and associated (with us), we possess excellent food; let not the wicked man who wishes to deceive us be our master; but let us, excelling in (pious) praises, attain (prosperity).
