नभःस्थाने दुन्दुभयो देवानां प्राणदंस्तदा । वाक्यं चैवान्तरिक्षे च साधु साध्विति तत्तदा ॥ 7-9-36 ॥

At that time the kettledrums of the gods resounded in the sky, and a voice in the firmament then cried out, "Well done, well done!"

english translation

तौ तु तत्र महारण्ये ववृधाते महौजसौ । कुम्भकर्णदशग्रीवौ लोकोद्वेगकरौ तदा ॥ 7-9-37 ॥

There in that great forest those two of mighty vigor grew up, Kumbhakarna and Dashagriva, causing terror to the worlds.

english translation

कुम्भकर्णः प्रमत्तस्तु महर्षीन्धर्मवत्सलान् । त्रैलोक्यं भक्षयन्नित्यासन्तुष्टो विचचार ह ॥ 7-9-38 ॥

Kumbhakarna, wanton and never sated, roamed about devouring the great sages devoted to dharma throughout the three worlds.

english translation

विभीषणस्तु धर्मात्मा नित्यं धर्मे व्यवस्थितः । स्वाध्यायनियताहार उवास विजितेन्द्रियः ॥ 7-9-39 ॥

But the righteous Vibhishana, ever established in dharma, dwelt with his senses subdued, restrained in his food and devoted to the study of the sacred texts.

english translation

अथ वैश्रवणो देवस्तत्र कालेन केनचित् । आगतः पितरं द्रष्टुं पुष्पकेण धनेश्वरः ॥ 7-9-40 ॥

Then, after some time, the god Vaishravana, the lord of wealth, came in the Pushpaka chariot to visit his father.
