ततो बाणमयं वर्षं व्यसृजद्राक्षसोरसि । शत्रुघ्नो वीर्यसम्पन्नो विव्यथे न स राक्षसः ॥ 7-69-11 ॥
Then Shatrughna, endowed with valor, loosed a rain of arrows upon the Rakshasa's chest, yet that Rakshasa was not shaken.
english translation
ततः प्रहस्य लवणो वृक्षमुद्यम्य वीर्यवान् । शिरस्यभ्यहनच्छूरं स्रस्ताङ्गः स मुमोह वै ॥ 7-69-12 ॥
Then the valiant Lavana, laughing, raised up a tree and struck the heroic Shatrughna upon the head, and he, his limbs giving way, fell into a swoon.
english translation
तस्मिन्निपतिते वीरे हाहाकारो महानभूत् । ऋषीणां देवसङ्घानां गन्धर्वाप्सरसां तथा ॥ 7-69-13 ॥
When that hero had fallen, a great cry of lamentation arose among the sages, the hosts of gods, and likewise the Gandharvas and Apsarases.
english translation
तमवज्ञाय तु हतं शत्रुघ्नं भुवि पातितम् । रक्षो लब्धान्तरमपि न विवेश स्वमालयम् ॥ 7-69-14 ॥
But the demon, contemptuously supposing Shatrughna slain and cast down upon the ground, did not enter his own dwelling, even though he had gained the opportunity to do so.
english translation
नापि शूलं प्रजग्राह तं दृष्ट्वा भुवि पातितम् । ततो हत इति ज्ञात्वा तान्भक्षान्समुदावहत् ॥ 7-69-15 ॥
Nor did he take up his trident when he saw him fallen upon the ground; rather, concluding that he was dead, he carried off those creatures meant to be his food.
